Well I have cut through my 2nd bulb on my 55" DLP Samsung in as many months. "She Who Shall Be Obeyed" has authorized the purchase of a new TV in lieu of me choking the 11 year old wanna be professional X-box champ for burning out the bulb (it blew both times while he was playing).

My budget is about $2000.00. So that kinda rules out anything 3D I guess. Looking for something about 55" or so. Was intrigued by the LED LCD TVs. However nothing is set in stone.

So I come to you my brothers. You have demonstrated your discerning tastes before and I seek your guidance.

Take a look at Sears. For $2k you should be able to score a really nice TV. Start by looking for true HDTV (1080 dpi) and a high refresh rate.

For example, Sears has a Sony 60" Bravia LCD on sale for $1999.

Here's a 52" Sony Bravia LED for $1899. LED TVs have a good picture and are thinner.

You'll definitely be able to score a great TV withing your budget

I trust CNET Reviews (http://reviews.cnet.com/tvs/?filter=100021_11016499_500961_122408_500963_20611348_&tag=mncol;dir2) for my TV info.

I've had 3 Vizio brand TV's and all have done well for me.

If you can wait, CES was last week and the newly unveiled technology will drive down the prices of older model TV's probably within the next 4 months.

Samsung of some kind.

But honestly, Samsung is the way to go for LCD TV's. They make the panels for lots of other people, but obviously keep the best for themselves. I have owned a ton of Samsung's(3 or 4 LCD TV's and a few LCD monitors) and have NEVER been disappointed.

Since you're working on a tight budget for a nice lcd I'd go with the Vizio XVT3SV series, probably the best bang for the buck right now. They've gotten some great reviews and you should be able to find a 55" in your price range from amazon.com and other stores.

Amazon has two 55" models available,
480hz (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0045TYDXC?ie=UTF8&tag=forumreview01-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B0045TYDXC) & And the 240hz (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003GDHI12?ie=UTF8&tag=forumreview01-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B003GDHI12)

They're 3D to. Edit: My bad only the 480hz model is 3D.
