View Full Version : Browning Hi power
P35; could someone recommend a good vendor to send my Browning Hi Power to for a re-blue and new sight upgrade? Hopefully it won't be the most expensive one around! Also who would have Browning factory magazines for the BHP (9mm -- just in case I'm behind the times and they now make it in more than one cal.!)

Can't help you with a good place for a re-blue, but for mags I would just google for the best prices.
Obviously browning factory mags are good to go, but if you come across Mec-Gar mags don't discount them, they're great! In fact Mec-Gar mags OEM magazines for many manufactures such as Sig (last time I checked anyway:D).
I own a Mec-Gar 15 rounder and it has never given me any trouble in my old school humped feed ramp Hi-Power, even with hollow points.
I'd give Novak's (http://www.novaksights.com/customguns/BHP/modifications.html) a call.
Don Williams at The Action Works, Novak's Cylinder & Slide, MARS Armament, and Jim Garthwaite. I know there are a few more, but their names escape me. Factory BHP mags are very expensive, but they are reliable. Mec-Gar magazines are good to go too, and they are cheaper than Browning marked magazines.
Wilson Combat has installed night sights on BHPs for me a couple of times. No issues.
I have Cylinder & Slide replacement triggers (self installed). Very good product that also removes the mag safety and reduces the pull weight.
i'm sure these guys will do sights and reblue for you. but don't click on the link and look around... you may start lusting for a little more work.....

CDNN (http://www.cdnninvestments.com/browning.html) has BHP mags. I have the Argentinian mags for range use, and I have had no problem with them.
Thanks guys!
By way of why I need it re-blued, and maybe prevent someone else from doing the same stupid thing -- I went on a 4 day backpack trip with the HP in the backpack. A can of Pepsi leaked and the pistol spent at least 3 days sloshing around in it -- that beautiful deep blue finish ruined!!!:(:(
