View Full Version : Opinions on Federal 9ms Load?
Just scored 3 boxes in a trade. Workable carry load or range ammo?
thanks,
Okie John
Old school 147gr load. You can still buy them for about $18 for a box of 50rds. Not as good as the more modern HST and Tactical Bonded Federal loadings. Personally I would use it as training ammo and get something off this list to use as self defense:

Got it.
It's accurate and doesn't kick hard, so I'll shoot it up hunting rabbits.

I often carry my Glock 9mms when out and about, and I do the same thing basically.
These loads are accurate, and work well on small game and varmints. I often use the WWB 147gr JHP, sometimes the 115gr, from China-mart for this mission.
Works better than ball, still works OK if I have to use it for defense, cheaper than shooting up my normal carry ammo.
It was my old department's issue load for more than 10 years, with many OIS's.
Worked great. There's better loads available now, but I wouldn't be afraid to use it for self defense.
