Hello, hopefully this is not an already hashed out issue, but every time I employed the use of the search function my connection dropped, so if it is, apologies in advance gentlemen.
I was wondering what people have heard about the Slide Fire Solutions Stock that basically allows for shoulder mounted "bump fire" that can go in controlled burst, single or "full auto" as it would seem. The atf apparently approved this, however the previous 10/22 dillema comes to mind. Also, would be interested in hearing the general take or maybe, if someone has one, a technical breakdown of the thing.

I prefer the term NFA item. Some people interpret 'class 3 weapon' as needing a class 3 license to own the item which is incorrect. </nitpick>
Regarding this item, the ATF decision is based on the fact that the stock itself does not make the weapon operate in a different manner. It physically does not alter the result if you pull the trigger back and hold it.
However, having your firing hand on the grip (attached to the stock) and your finger pulling back on the trigger while your non firing hand presses forward effectively pulls the receiver and thus trigger back into the firing position because you are holding your trigger finger in the firing position.
The trick here is attaching the pistol grip to the stock. If your non firing hand pulls instead of pushes then it operates normally because the receiver (and trigger) does not get pushed forward after the shot and recoil.

An expensive way to bump fire and decrease accuracy....I'll pass.
One could argue that it increases the accuracy *if* you are already bump firing...
It's a gimmick of course, but certainly a much cheaper way to obtain the result of full auto fire without the expense of purchasing a many thousand dollar weapon.

Honestly, I think it is an extremely valuable device. Things like this demonstrate just how absurd NFA regulations and laws actually are. I wish every firearm came with some Hellstorm/Hellfire/Slide stock sort of device which made high volume unregulated fire commonplace.
Every time I see some vato at the local range bump fire his WASR AK I realize just how pointless NFA laws are. As the typical banger will fire both the genuine select fire weapon and the device modified weapon in an identical fashion (poorly handled and aimed) the NFA laws don't affect them in any appreciable manner.
Only the serious shooter is impacted by these stupid laws.

I've heard the exact same position regarding those who own genuine select fire weapons from those who don't. And I've heard it about black rifles owners from those who aren't. I've heard it about high capacity magazine fed weapons from those who don't own firearms with high caps. I've heard it about those who carry concealed from those who don't.
But we are talking about government bureaucrats that will only change things if told too by the elected officials. And when it comes to full auto no elected official will ever vote to to change the current NFA laws or even bring it up. I have thought for a while now since joining this forum that perhaps someone should just get it over with and start thread stating all the things they feel are stupid, idiotic, unnecessary, wasteful, immature and generally uncool, in their remarkabaly valuable and sought after opinion, towards what other people like about NFA items or firearms in general. I feel this would be good for the general moral of the individual people who find it necessary to do so anyway. Unless of course this has already been done. :thank_you2:

@ IRAQ: I was just looking for how such an item would be recieved around here (as I highly respect and follow much of the opinions offered to me on this board by some of the senior members)
I found it to be an interesting but unappealing product that I knew relativley nothing about, in conjunction with the "Class 3" laws (even after reading on here about them) and was interested in the generalities like "how this is legal"/ "how does this work" and "I cant believe they (the ATF) goes with this" as I find it to be contradictory to the limited information i have read about in regards to modifications that increase the fire rate of the gun. Thanks guys for the input
