Changing the A1 flash hider on my Colt 6450 with a Smith Enterprises 9mm Vortex Flash Hider. It didn't come with a crush washer. Is it necessary to use one, in order to mount the F/H ? Thanks!

No crush washer necessary on the Smith Vortex. Simply apply a little anti seize and install it finger tight.

If you only have to install it finger tight, why does it have wrench flats? I would certainly put a little more torque on it than just your fingers.

That depends upon the particular model of Smith Vortex. Smith recommends that the Vortex be torqued to 10 ft-lbs. No anti-seize is necessary.

I believe they designed it to self-tight when shooting.
