Hey guys got a stag arms model 1 a couple months ago and it works fine for what I do. But I'm planning on upgrading to a bcm 16 in midlength. I'm going to keep the same lower, what do I need to change? Buffer? Action spring?

Realistically you don't need to change anything.

I use an H buffer in my 16" BCM middy and it works fine.

The one that will allow your weapon to function with all of the ammo tha you are going to shoot.

There is no 100% across the board answer. An H buffer probably will work, but you will need to check it with your ammo.

Me too.

There's no specific formula for buffers - too many variables ie gas port, buffer spring, BCG, barrel length, and especially ammo. I'd start with an H, maybe try an H2

Keep your lower the way it is and if need be upgrade. I'm sure you'll be fine with ammo especially if you start shooting NATO stuff.

Like they have all said about buffers. Try a couple of them. They aren't that expensive. Start with a H and try others. They all will be different. There is also some great threads here on buffers. Play with them all and see what works best for your weapon.

Last week markm and I shot the mid length that I put together from BCM. We used H,H2 and H3 buffers with no problems.

I think an H would be more than adequate and really don't think you need to put too much thought into this.

Measure the recoil spring (buffer spring / action spring) if it is between than 10 1/16 inch & 11 1/4 inch, your good. Other than that... shoot the rifle and go from there. When parts wear out, replace them. I personally like the Stag lowers. I would take a Stag, BCM, or Daniel Defense lower any day of the week.

Stag88 is your Stag Model 1, one of the newer Stags with the life time barrel warranty?

Ya I think the whole gun is lifetime warranty. I'm probably gunna end up selling the upper. Thanks for the info on buffers

How much would the stag upper go for? I have roughly a 1000 rounds through it

It's hard to say. A few months back I sold an Armalite m15A2 upper for a friend with the buttstock assembly and buffer/ spring on Backpage for 425.00.

That upper only had a couple of hundred rounds through it. It all depends on locale, etc...

anyone know?
