Could someone help me out on a small conceal carry handgun. I would prefer to stay with a 9mm instead of 380 auto. Of course I want something that is definately reliable and would prefer a safety. Does anyone have any suggestions from all of their personal experiences. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I carry a Glock 26 quite well, even in a ankle holster, but there is
no external safety. Other guns to look at would be something
in the Kahr line or a Walther PPS. Do a search on these and you
will find lots of info on each, pro and con. Also an S&W MP9c would
be worth a gander.

M&P 9 Compact can be had with a thumb safety.

HK P7, HK P30, Sig 228, M&P9c

I've carried/concealed all the above IWB. The P7 is my favorite of the 4 by a good margin and can be had for 499 and up.

I concealed carried my HK45C and loved it. Little big for all day carry, but nice for a night out. Easy to hide in an Uncle Mike IWB. For every day carry though I still reach for my S&W 360pd. Reliable and weighs nothing. Don't even know it's there.

If you want something thin with a manual safety, perhaps consider a 1911 pattern gun in 9mm. Whatever you get, train with it often.

With a good holster such as Kramer's #3 IWB (in horsehide), a Glock G19 is easily concealable even in a t-shirt. You can find smaller guns of course, but I think you reach a point of diminishing returns and you start compromising the shootability of the gun. If you prefer having a safety, a P30S can be had and is roughly the same size.

I love my glock 26 but if you want something with a safety  then the M&Pc with the optional thumb safety would be better for you.

there is also the ruger SR9c but I despise that thing with it's huge LCI, mag disconnect, and internal key lock

If you want an external safety the S&W Bodyguard 380 is a good choice.
Without an external safety I like the Rohrbaugh R9s, Ruger LCP, or Kahr PM9.

For pocket carry, I use a Walther PPS in a Nemesis or Superfly by DeSantis, for holster carry it is a toss-up between the glock 19/26. I also really like the Springfield XDM compact 3.8 9mm but it seems a little more difficult to conceal. I have been through Sig's and HK's and found them to be reliable but not as easy to carry. Just my 2 cents.

I'd suggest that you take a look at an HK P2000 SK or a Walther PPS.

I have both pistols and they are excellent. Extremely accurate and uber reliable. Good ergos and easy to conceal.

Good luck, let us know what you decide. :)

If you want a safety, I've rather liked the Springfield EMP. Nice little gun, handles well, and it fairly accurate. Downside is it's a pricey firearm.

For firearms without safeties, I've carried a Glock 19 and a Khar P9. I like them both.

I have carried a sig p239 for at least 9 years, I have had two of them the latest is the sas with the srt trigger. Not the lightest, but slim, accurate and reliable.

I don't go for a safety, so I can't help there.

If you consider one without a safety...

My two favorites are:

- Glock 19 if you want one in compact size

- XDsc if you want one in subcompact size

The XD gives slightly more grip length and 13 rounds in the mag.

I have thousands of rounds through both of those I list with great results.

I switch between a G19 and a G26. I lean a little more towards the 19 now because it is the one I use during carbine classes and train with the most.

The 26 is pretty accurate though!

You've had some good suggestions here but I would suggest you try to find a range that will allow you to rent a few of these suggestions and shoot them for yourself before spending the money on one. It's very difficult for someone on the internet to tell YOU what the best gun for YOU would be.

Personally, I like the GLOCK line of pistols. Many people feel that the 26 is great. I prefer to carry a G19. Most average size hands are too big to get a proper grip on the short grip of a G26. Many add the extensions to the magazines to make them more controllable. When you do that, you make the grip size the same as the G19, or most any other standard size GLOCK. The barrel is not the hard part to conceal, it's the grip that sticks out of your shirts/cover garments. If you have to add the extension, you might as well go with the standard size handgun.

I have XDs, 1911s, Ruger LCP, Smith & Wesson Body Guard, etc. etc. I have lots of choices. I choose daily to carry, train and compete with the G19. My two cents. Good luck finding you a weapon!
