My Gen 4 G17 is functioning great, heard so much about the Glockmeister Stainless Steel Captured Guide Rod I decided to try one.

I need a recommendation on the spring weight and why:

The spring weight options are:

13 lbs
15 lbs
17 lbs (labeled as stock weight)
20 lbs
22 lbs
24 lbs

Depends on what ammo you are using, but I'm running the stock 17lb version in my Gen 4 G17. It is extremely well constructed and I've only experienced one FTE to date, which was likely due to ammo rather than anything else. Since I'm not running duty ammo or target ammo exclusively and need functionality across board, believe this is good compromise.

Not sure why you are messing with it but for the gun games I grab my ammo and the shot timer to see what spring combo gets them down rAnge the fastest, flatest and the best group.

For factory ammo in a carry weapon run it stock
YMMV

I run the Glockmeister tungsten rods with #20 springs in my Gen4 G35, G19 and two G17's. My G35 is fully converted to 9mm...

I run their tungsten rod with #18 spring in my Gen4 G19.

I have KKM barrels in all but one of my Gen4's...

All of them run 100%...

I prefer the Gen4 to my Gen3's. Can't wait for a Gen4 G20...

I use 17 lbs springs.

More like the stock configuration for the Gen3 guns.
