View Full Version : How much should I ask for my 17 year old Bushmaster XM15-E2S?

I'm selling my 17 year old pre-ban Bushmaster XM15-E2S to an acquaintance. I've shot several thousand rounds through it. Anyone have any ideas on how much I should ask for it? I want to give the guy a good price, but if it's all but worthless, I'd rather keep it than give it away.

Thanks!

In a Ban state (MA/CT/NY) you can probably ask 1200-1500 for it as configured.
This rifle is worth more in CT since they only allow pre-ban Bushmasters.
If your friend is in a free state, it may be worth your while to sell it to somebody in a ban state.

New ones are $699, so...

No more than $550.

Thanks for all of the replies. I know a few guys in CT who might ask around where they work, or I might put it on GunBroker.com and put "Pre-Ban" in the title. Maybe someone from MA/CT/NY might bid it up.

Just remember that these "ban-state" people you are looking to make a buck on are fellow shooting enthusiasts.

Selling a bushmaster worth 400/500 for double that simply because someone resides in a ban state sickens me.

Charge what you like.

jdodd - I'd rather you stick to making helpful comments that directly answer my question, rather than trying to rewrite the laws of supply and demand, and trying to get people to conduct themselves to your standards.

Rule number one for this forum addresses "derogatory remarks." I'd rather that no one try to push the limits of civility and the forum rules, especially over something petty that hasn't even transpired.

You want a quick sale ill give you the numbers of two pre-ban dealers in CT. They buy whole rifles or lowers at market price. Bushmasters tend to resale higher then other pre-bans and these guys buy as many as they can get their hands on.

Now we can all play nice in the sandbox.

I would like to sell it to my friend in Georgia like I had planned. I'll ask $450 for it. If he decides he's no longer interested, or wants to buy my other Bushmaster (which I DO know how much to ask), then I might look into selling the Pre-Ban on GunBroker.com and let market demand determine the price. Thanks for the offer. If all else fails, I may get back with you.

$500-$700, depending the buyer. There are some who will pay more.

Remember, the item is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. FWIW, I live in Ct. and just bought a preban Bushy lower Sept. last year. IMO if you have the original box and its all original, its worth more to a collector. That said, I paid $700 for my (complete) preban lower. I have found prebans over the last few years SGW, Eagle Arms, DPMS, Sendra & Essential Arms from $600 to $900, depends on the seller. FYI, there is a 20inch Bushy on an auction website (right now) for $1495.

Just to echo previous comments. What something is worth is exactly what someone else is willing to pay. If someone in CT wants to pay $1,200 or whatever, then that is what it is worth. That is not ripping someone off.

I also think this pre-ban SHOULD be sold in a ban state. Why not make twice as much yourself, make someone in the ban state happy and rub it in the face of that state government.

Your buddy in GA has plenty of opportunities for a good deal but those guys behind enemy lines need all the breaks they can get. I doubt the buyer would feel ripped off.
