Here is a few photos of my Mars Axiom. I love this pistol. I have about 1,000 rounds through it without a problem.

Before Mars:http://i774.photobucket.com/albums/yy21/spr223/100_0881.jpg

After:

The looks are great, but I think the best part is the reliablity and the fact I know I can depend on it if I need it.

I could not be happier with the work Steve did for me.

After a few trips to the range, a few IPSC matches, and about a thousand rounds since November, I had one malfunction attributed to a faulty magazine. The THUG is not picky about ammo. Rangers, Gold Dots, Winchester WB HP and FMJ, cheap Magtechs, down to my own reloads, all perform without any complications. In terms of accuracy, I can not say enough, other than it most definitely outshoots my abilities. Fit and finish are admirably executed, and exactly as specified. His attention to detail is apparent in every aspect of function and appearance. In short, Steve's work instills confidence in function, and a pride of ownership.

As mentioned before, I could not be happier. Well, one more from Steve couldn't hurt. :D

This is my 01919 Axiom Steve built for me. Unfortunately I only had it in my hands for two weeks before it had to go back to Steve. It has yet to return, but rest assured Steve is on the case and his follow up service has been very good and I have 100% confidence that my issue will be resolved. I will reserve comment on the issue, until it is resolved. That being said, I love the way the gun feels, and fits in my hand. The MARS golf ball treatment and gold bead front sight are my favorite aspects of the build.

Thanks Grunt! Steve's no-nonsense approach regarding his 1911 work is a big part about what led me to him. My original goal was function over form but in the end when my pistol got here, I realized I ended up with a nice combo of both.

Dos, I too have no doubt your Axiom will be fine no matter the concern. Like you've said, Steve's on it and I know he takes these things very seriously. Hope she gets here soon!

Yes, you are right. Stuff happens, what matters is how it is delt with. Thus far, Steve has been very good and is keeping me updated as his busy schedule allows. I am cursed when it comes to 1911's no matter the cost or quality. Can't wait to have my girl back so I can abuse her :D.

David, it was your pics and write-up that not only aided in my decision to have Steve do my build, but also served as "therapy", as I waited for my THUG. I remember theJanitor sending me the link to your Axiom thread when I was considering a build. I remember my reply to him after seeing your pics was, "Now that's what I want!"

That night shot is one of my favorites by the way. All great photos!

Thanks.

Glad to know I helped in your decision and that my pics were appreciated. Your THUG is definitely a good combination of form and function. Awesome blaster!!

That night shot is one of my favorites as well and was 100% luck. I have tried to reproduce it, but no luck.

Thanks bro. Very sad day for me, as this is my baby. I only have it listed on this board because everyone here knows plenty about MARS guns and I hope if finds a great home. I will get another in the future, but obviously family is first. I still have plenty of other guns to tide me over though.

Dos Cylindros
08-28-11, 19:52
I waited 13 months for him to build my 01918 Axiom. Almost killed me to wait that long, and in the grand sceme of things it's not as long as alot of the other top name custom smiths. Due to financial reasons, I was forced to sell my prized MARS Axiom (pictured in this thread) after only owning it for a few months  At least I know it went to a good home.

Steve is such a great guy, he still contacts me regularly just to shoot the shit and see how things are going. Hopefully I will be able to have another pistol built by him some day.

I bought this Kimber in around 1997. It is one of the early ones. I shot a lot of rounds through it and it really needed help.
Steve from Mars Armament replaced all the internal parts and gave it a black ceracoat finish.
It shoots like a new gun. Well better than most new guns.

Yep. And a year ago they were about to ship so I paid in full, over 6k. Still waiting and can't get a response.

05-03-12, 18:15
The work here is really nice, great looking 1911's. But 3 years is crazy, especially when the guns were supposedly about to ship around 1 year ago, and you paid the full amount now up front as of a year ago and can't even get an answer to what's going on??

Serlo II
05-03-12, 21:02
The guy is really good but kind of like an artist he's not really what I would call an organized production manager. I really like him but I'm at the end of my rope.

Dunedain
05-04-12, 13:43
Well, I certainly respect the creative process and the skills required to execute such fine detailing. But 3 years, 1 year after it was said to be near shipping, and not a word can be gotten? You'd think your pistols would be first in line to get done. And I can also understand if organization was a bit off and maybe it slipped being noticed for awhile, but you have made contact to remind about the project, so that shouldn't be an issue. The no replies to being contacted is the major issue, I think. The rest I can understand, accidents happen, papers get misplaced, but it wouldn't hurt to at least get an update when asked for one.

But I'm sure the guns will look really great when you get them. :)

That is a long time to wait, I've been waiting for almost 2 years myself. I know he got jammed up moving his shop and transferring his FFL. He couldn't send or receive any guns for a very long time. We'll start a "we're waiting for our MARS guns support group" :sarcastic:

freightdog1911
05-04-12, 23:11
Steve is crazy busy. I know between the FFL, moving the shop and military /LEO guns it can be overwhelming for a one man show. Any recent attempts at contact? Hang in there. Looking forward to seeing your projects.

Serlo II
05-05-12, 08:10
I call and email weekly. No response.
I'd like my money back but no response.
Next stop - lawsuit.

I ordered the guns so that I could give one to my Brother upon return from his deployment in Afghanistan. That's why we came up with the 6 month timeline. I would give him the gun and we would go to Thunder Ranch. He's been back a couple of years now and will probably deploy again before I hear from Steve.

Hello
I am very busy with various projects underway at my shop and just became aware of this thread via contact from a friend.

To SerloII and IZinterogator--please forgive me if I don't recognize you from your screen names.

If you, or anyone else, have work at my shop, (or work from my shop) and are not happy with it, I will make it right with you.

I will be happy to update you on the progress and status of your project(s), including photos of the parts already made, work performed to date, and an estimate of the time to completion.

I can be contacted via pm here on the forum (click on my user profile and select "private message this member"), email: steve@marsguns.com or 801.696.7473.

Steve

Note: I have been emailing Steve pretty much every day.

Perhaps my daily emails are going into your junk folder?
What is going on ?
I believe its only fair to get both a reasonable delivery and a honest projected date.
We are just hitting the three year mark. In February you said you were shipping within a week and you would call me. You never called and the guns never shipped. What am I supposed to think? What would a reasonable person do? :help:
The reason I bought the guns was so Len and I could go to Thunder Ranch after his last deployment. It was supposed to be a returning home present. He is going to deploy again before the guns ever arrive!

BigJoe or Rana,

Do either of you have a spec sheet for this beauty? Just about ready to pull the plug on getting a Colt once I get back CONUS and I'm thinking of sending it off to Steve once I have sufficient funds.

I have two THUG's on order from Steve. Hopefully shipping within a couple of weeks. I got one for my younger brother as a coming home gift from his last deployment in Afghanistan.

I have one Kimber that Steve fixed up for me a couple of years ago. It shoots very, very well. It is one of the orignal 1997 Kimber's so it is basically a series 70 1911 with a very solid forged frame.

The work done was:

Reliability Package, parts included MARS Heavy Duty Spring Kit, MARS
Oversized Firing Pin Stop, Recoil Spring Guide, MARS HD Extractor, fit
new MARS Heavy Duty Slide Stop, & MARS Plunger Tube
Mild dehorn of sharp edges

MARS Hard use lockwork kit - includes Koenig hammer, MARS sear, sear
spring, disconnector, titanium strut and trigger job

Furnish and install ejector
Dawson Rail
Furnish & install MARS Solid Aluminum Trigger
MARS Heavy Duty Slide Stop
MARS 11-piece pin set
Cerakote complete pistol - black
MARS GEN-1 Mainspring Housing
Furnish and install 1911 grip safety

Thanks. Its a really good handgun. I got it back from Steve over 2 years ago and it has cycled perfectly. No reliability problems at all. Really accurate too.

I am really looking forward to getting the new ones. Kid brother and I have a plan to go to Thunder Ranch...

talked to him yesterday. he is trying to get some stuff caught up. He has some guys who have been waiting for a while obviously (myself included) and he is trying to knock out some of the longer wait pistols. the more time he spends on the phone the less work he can get done. i suggest emailing him. He isn't ignoring anyone just paying alot of attention to everyone's pistols instead of their phone calls ;)

Thanks for the reply, BigJoe. It does make a lot of sense to stay away from the phone, I'd never get much done myself corporate comes around and asks a bunch of questions and has me do demo's of the machinery where I work. I guess I'd just like to see if we can iron a few details out, there are about three different directions we can go with this project, and two of them get me out of his way pretty quickly. I'm 2 1/2 years into this project, so you probably know the feeling. In fairness, he got my rifle receiver set up in no time flat...:)

I talked to Steve for a few minutes today and discussed my soon to be finished project. The man sure is patient. I've made a few changes to the project over time and he has always been easy to work with. Looking back on things now, I should have just asked HIM how HE would have built it, because I pretty much ended up morphing my way into an Axiom-type build when it was all said and done. If I can figure out how to post pics, I'll show it off when it gets here.

this was basically a collaboration between myself and steve as my "perfect" combat pistol. with a couple "gucci" touches just for fun like the ball cuts. Everypart on the gun is tool steel, the thing is made to run and I chose every option. should be a cool piece. I elected to ditch the rail gun slide cuz i like the series 70 slide serrations better.

steve is probably goin to kill me for posting these, but i LOVE in progress pics and i think the final result will speak volumes on his work. Even if this was someone elses gun and not mine its my favorite gun he has built yet.

MARS Colt Rail Gun in hand! All I can say is DAMN. Steve knows how to build a 1911. I've owned just about every 1911 from every build out there except Chuck Rogers and can honestly say Steve is right up there with the best of them. The gun just fees right. The trigger is excellent, the golf balls (credit goes to Chuck Rogers for originating the idea) are very deceptive. They provide far more traction that one would expect. The more pressure you apply, the better they bite into your hand. I'm not easily impressed with custom 1911's but this 1911 has me thrilled. It shoots like a dream. No rattles, solid lock up, dead on sights, zero sharp edges, excellent trigger.

I only had time to run 100 rds of Speer 230 grain Gold Dots through. Zero issues. The stock Colt barrel is very, very accurate. Here are two quick cell phone pics, it rode home from the range in a CCC Looper. Steve will be building me at least two more 1911's, and we are talking about a 9mm too. It is not live yet, but I'll have a full write up in my soon to come blog, along with comments from Steve at www.1911Journal.com

On top of the standard package, I had the front strap serrated 20 LPI and I had the Gadsden engraving added to the side of the slide ahead of the ejection port. Took it out Friday for a short test spin, awesome accuracy from the stock barrel and no issues with reliability.

I'm not posting pics because it wasn't anything major, but I have to mention how awesome it is to work with Steve. Yesterday I had an appointment to drop my Range Officer off for a couple things, but I was running late due to a doctor's appointment that ran way over; I called him when I was done and he told me to bring it by anyway. I was just having a new extractor and FPS fitted, and the barrel throated; he recut the ramp for me when he saw that the angle was sub-optimal, and did the bowtie cut as a bonus (I'm using it in the police academy). I didn't have a lot of time before class, but he had it done and back in my hands in a little less than four hours. He's also just a nice guy, period. I get the feeling I'm going to be spoiled by living so close to his shop.

Sorry I didn't even see this thread. I just don't get over here as often as I'd like...........

Joe, Rana.........I am slightly (a lot) jealous that you guys are reaping the bene's of Steve's recent work...........when he sends out the pics, as always, his work is phenomenal, but more than that, makes me wish I still had full house custom $ in the bank to do another one from MARS. If I ever make back out to the left side, I'll bring out a MARS gun, and maybe we can do a range day round robin pistol swap.

To the point of my post.......

My MARS guns.

First is a Kimber that Steve kindly accepted as work "back in the day", as a personal favor, and against his better judgement. But it was what I had, and couldn't swing the cash (or approval from the woman in my life at the time) to start all over with a brand new Colt. Basically it was a Kimber slide/frame/barrel kit because everything was gutted. Turned out great, and ran like the proverbial "raped ape". I carried it for a few years, and the appearance ended up with "character", i.e., it looked like it was drug behind a tractor trailer for 1000 miles. But Steve churched it up for me again, and in a moment of "give and take", I sold it off to finance a different project. No sooner had I walked away with the money that regret hit hard. Took me three+ years to talk the guy into selling it back to me, and it will not leave me again.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v690/SavageHunter/1911Kimber1.jpg

Next one is a Caspian/Ceiner that I had Steve build as a dedicated .22LR for cheap practice after work stopped stocking .45 ACP. It was all function, no frills, so at a glance, it doesn't look like much. But he did some great work installing Heinie's so it matched my other 1911's in function and sight picture, etc.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v690/SavageHunter/SeanCaspianCiener221911.jpg

Then a 9mm Springer for the same reasons I had him do the .22LR. 9mm brought me a little closer to weight, and feel, with some recoil to work with. It was pimp silver, and ugly as all hell, and sloppy. Steve worked his usual magic, setting it up like all the others he has built for me. One of the only early 9mm 1911's that seemed to avoid the shortcomings of 9mm 1911's back then. Runs great, looks great, and fun to shoot. GF has pretty much decided it is hers now. And I let her think it is as justification for more guns.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v690/SavageHunter/SeanSpringfield9mm1911.jpg

Grand finale is what I swore would be my first, last, and only full custom gun......The original DA. Hard to believe it has been more than 10 years already huh Steve?

Steve bent over backwards working with me on this project, for not only function, but some relatively new (at the time) aesthetics. This project took a long time due to (at the time) lack of parts that met the specs we laid out, as well as having to deal with various vendors who were not always the most timely in delivery of the goods. But it was well worth the wait. It is still my "go to" 1911 for just about anything I would use a 1911 for. Now that .45 ACP has found it's way back onto the shelf at work, it gets a little more use than it has seen for the past few years.

I still have my invoice, and I know what it cost........but I can't think of a realistic number that someone could offer that would make me even consider selling.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v690/SavageHunter/14c07d57.jpg

Right now my BHP is on the work bench at MARS, and a Delta Elite 10mm will be finding it's way out there in hopefully the not too distant future.

Yeah, I have 1911's from other shops, and I have other custom 1911's in the works with other builders, but there is a reason the bulk of my 1911's go to Steve.

I have explained my situation to you in great detail and sent you photos of your pistols and the work performed on them. I understand and regret that you are frustrated and unhappy with my performance and communication thus far.

I will send you the pistols as ordered, or refund your money paid to date, including interest. If you elect to receive the pistols, and then find them unacceptable in any way, you may return them and I will refund the money, with interest.

Though you may not consider me as such, I consider you a friend and I regret that I have not made this a positive experience for you.
The bottom line is that I am responsible and I will do whatever I can to make right with you.

I sincerely wish you and everyone else here a happy holiday and Merry Christmas.

Steve

Beautiful work again by Steve. Big Joe what is your sight picture like? What is the set-up on the sights..tritium, gold bead, etc. I am running Steve's rear with the rear sight opened up a bit, running an X/S Big Dot front, trying to see if it'd a bit faster alignment with a squared front, you can't miss the big dot, but curious if aligning would be easier with a squared front in a squared rear picture, compared to my round front, square rear. What's the round count so far?

BigJoe
01-04-13, 17:25
the front is a tritium with white surround and rear is a pretty wide U-notch. REALLY fast, i like it alot so i actually sent my thug slide back and had steve machine the rear sight the same.

Here is my MARs build. More pictures to come. Steve, was great to work with, and gave much insight into the things done to the pistol. I must recommend the MARs Golfball treatment to the frontstrap, and MSH as one of the best gripping surfaces I have ever experienced. Reliability has been second to none.

Great looking guns.
I like the sights. I think the big dot is too big for me but it is fast to pick up. I really like the sight picture on the S&W Night Guard revolvers. Kind of similar - XS in front and U notch in rear. The dot fits right into the U notch perfectly.

I currently run a tritium with a white circle around it and a Heinie ledge rear. The pair of guns Steve if building for me will have gold beads in the front and plain rears. I hope my aging eyes can pick up the gold dot. Everyone says it’s a good choice so we shall see.

BigJoe
01-24-13, 19:25
my front sights are smaller then the U-notch, great for fast stuff, definately not 25 yard bench stuff, not to say you can't be accurate just takes a little more time but on a 6 plate rack they are deadly.

My loaded has been there for a while....but I now have a tracking number! Should be here Tuesday!!
Longest weekend of the year so far....
Since I sent it in I've purchased a nib talo wiley clapp govt and a used nrm 1991
Pretty sure the 1991 is going to get scheduled for a thug makeover after I see my loaded.

Nfa86, if you mind me asking, about how long was your wait time? I got a turn around time from Sara and had talked to Steve about the work but wanted to hear from a current customer about the turn around time.

After reading this thread I have no problem at all sending this to Steve and have the utmost confidence. I just don't want to get my hopes up for the turn around I was quoted. If I have an idea going in then I have no problems

I know it will matter how much I'm having done so... Just having the reliability package, cerakote, MSH fitting, sight fitting plus zeroing/cleaning

Thanks!

Not Nfa86, but mine has been there about 20 months. I chose the THUG package.
Steve did call me last week to finalize the build and to let me know he has started work on it.
Comms have been pretty good since the gun has been there. The few emails i sent have been returned. Steve and I talked by phone last Feb.
I figured when I sent the gun that it would be about a two year wait.
Now I'm starting to get excited since the return of the gun is in sight.

01-27-13, 10:52
i warn you guys steve has stopped taking full builds till he catches up on builds. the number of guns sent in is what has slowed him down. he had over 50 guns sitting in there waiting for everything from a cerakote job to some 6k dollar builds. You may want to touch base with him before sending anything the smaller packages are usually less wait but when you start throwing options on like a magwell, grip work, etc.... then it takes a lot longer.

Nfa86
01-27-13, 11:56
He is extremely backed up.
If I send my next one in I will be prepared to wait and get on his waiting list prior to shipping.
Quality takes time.

Steve's work is exceptionally high quality.
As I understand it he is not taking orders for a while so that he can catch up.
Keep in mind that the Axiom and Thug are easier for him to finish quickly than the guns with lots of custom features like integral magwells and extra fancy special machining.

Thanks for all the kind words.

Integrated mag wells like the iMAG on the Rana pistols are a hang up for us right now. The excellent Chen mag well has been unavailable for some time and there are no other alternatives that meet my standards.

The Rana iMAG mag wells were one off prototypes built by hand and were very time and labor extensive to make. I'm currently producing the iMAGs on a small scale production basis "in house" on 4axis CNC, but there have been some difficulties getting them "just right". There are several pistols very close to completion in my shop now that lack only the iMAG. My shop is very well set up for all "carry gun related" 1911 mods, including refinishing-- it is *manufacture* of the iMAGs that is holding things up.

I've stopped taking new builds until Serlo (and AS in AZ, PS in CT, among others) and others who have been very patiently waiting on their pistols, receive them and are satisfied with the workmanship and performance. Once those pistols are complete and I am certain that I can meet promised delivery dates, the build list will open up. When possible we will "work in" certain smaller jobs, like nfa86's, if they do not detract from builds that are already underway. My focus is on getting full builds completed on a "first in, first out" basis.

Axiom job with some custom touches. Really amazing work and can't say enough how good this feels in the hand; like an extension of my body.

I chose the "Sniper Grey" which actually turned out more like a graphite color and looks absolutely incredible in person. Especially when contrasted with the black accents.

It's been a long wait but Steve remained true to his word and has shipped the two Thugs I purchased over 3 years ago.
I received mine and my brother will get his tomorrow.
I went directly to the range and fired 350 rounds of aluminum blazer through various magazines. No failures of any kind. People are right about Steve’s guns – Reliability of a Glock with the performance of a 1911.
The gun is accurate, very accurate. Trigger is perfect. Sights are perfect. Fit and finish are amazing. Feels great in the hand.

how did it do?

Day one was flawless in operation. Day two, I was tap-rack-banging and fixing double feeds left and right. Not sure if it was poor recoil management from shooting in unconventional positions or a bad magazine, but I got my malfunction clearing practice down pat that day. Unfortunately, I can't afford to shoot another 700 rounds to properly diagnose it.

BigJoe
06-13-13, 23:46
huh, strange, i would hit up steve and see what he says. double feeds i would think might be a extractor issue but i'm sure others on here could diagnose better then I. Magazines are the evil to which most 1911 problems stem from though. curious to know what it was.

IZinterrogator
06-14-13, 01:46
Talked to Steve tonight, he thinks it was bad magazines (I was using eight year old 47Ds at the time). But since I wanted to try out a new rear sight anyways, I'm going to send him the slide for the install and he's going to double check the extractor tension while it's there.

opngrnd
06-14-13, 06:11
What sights are you going with? Not too surprised as to old 47D's possibly causing problems. Mine always ran great for about 6 months at a time. After that, they'd start getting sluggish(you could feel the rounds hitting the feed ramp harder) and eventually I'd end up with malfunctions if I didn't get around to changing the springs. But I was keeping them loaded full time. I like Cobra Mags now :)

The rear is a PWS replica Steve made a few years ago. Front is Trijicon.
The PWS is nice, but after putting a set of 10-8 sights on another pistol, I think I'm going to have Steve install the 10-8 on the rear. I really like the U shape notch.

Awesome 1911 Eternal. I think Steve makes the best utilitarian 1911s around. I am still kicking myself for not sending my pistol in last year when he was still taking work. I had a quote and everything but the timing wasn't right for me.

Found some cheap .45 ammo and took Defensive Handgun at FAS again last weekend. I should have found some inexpensive ammo instead. Lots of FTRB issues due to bullet setback, but no problems stemming from the pistol itself.

I had them machine the top of slide flat, flush crown on barrel, match barrel bushing, extended mag release, MARS safeties &slide stop , blend the magwell, new trigger, new sights (Novak cut) with gold dot on front, "reliability work" (polish feedramp, throat barrel, tune extractor, lower and flare ejection port), high cut front strap, golf ball on mainspring and frontstrap, commander style hammer, and family motto engraved, finished in cerakote.

There were a couple of snags in the build process and Steve was able to identify and remedy them, I am very happy with the way this thing turned out

Got a surprise email from MARS on 12/30. Steve knew I was wanting a gun built as I inquired about it last March. Well I followed up this last fall to see if I could commission the build from the quote I got in March. Unfortunately my window of opportunity passed as Steve wasn't taking any new work. Steve followed up this past Monday as a spot must have opened up and asked if I still wanted my colt built. Long story short the gun is on its way to Utah.

It's the aluminum Tripp baseplate, I got a bunch of mags on a group buy so the price was right, by far the best mags IMHO

Nope.

After I had mine high-cut and checkered it felt too small in my hand and I ended up using it with Pachmayr wrap around grips.

Shoulda left it alone.

Thank you. It was great to compare the details from back in 2009 when the S70 was built vs. the stainless S80 which arrived last week. For example, Steve's beavertail has a new contour, and is more rounded at the very end. I'm certain you will love your Axiom. I won't speak for Steve on this but I hear checkering is no longer being offered as of late. A buddy of mine inquired about checkering a few weeks ago and was told it was no longer available, but that other options can be discussed. Granted not every build gets posted, but I myself can only think of two other guns aside from my own, that I have seen checkering. And those projects showed up around the same time as mine.

Joe, I saw the "hint" of your S70 in 9mm and looking forward to seeing that one! I've been tossing around the idea of a 9mm XSE for about a month and the mention of your build is not helping the preservation of the credit card balance. Thanks for the compliments on the pistols, and I know what you mean about the wait. My first was a fairly short turnaround but that was back in 2009. The second took awhile, but now that its here I can say it was worth the wait. Hats off to Steve, Bethany, and the crew!

Thanks Jeff! That Ultra THUG is actually the only stainless gun I have so I completely understand a preference for a park'd gun. Most of the 1911's I have are blued with polished sides, and I have a couple with hardchrome frames with blued tops. I got this stainless s80 from a friend of a friend for a great price and couldnt pass it up. I nearly had Steve cerakote it but thought something different would be cool and kinda took the theme from a C&S build I saw awhile back called the "Trident." A buddy of mine down in Alabama has a stainless Colt for his EDC so I hear on your situation. lol!

As for my earlier build with MARS, Steve named my first one the "5-0 THUG" being my location is Hawaii. ;)

Have a good one... Kev

Very much agree on the beavertail fitting. I love the new profile, much more refined. I believe my gun was started late enough to get this style of grip safety fit, fingers crossed. Steve has been a pleasure to work with thus far. I get random text updates which are always nice. They have really stepped up their game.

My axiom is nearing completion but I wanted some opinions from the peanut gallery on a front strap treatment. I was originally just going to go with an unfinished smooth front strap but I am now considering 20 lpi serrations to make it a full build. what's everyone's thoughts on 20 lpi serrations?

One option

http://i391.photobucket.com/albums/oo356/rushca01/image.jpg1_zpszwipljd3.jpg

Another option

350_eight08

I agree with above. Option 2. I have serrations on one of my customs and like it very much. It was a pistol I bought used and thus I did not specify it personally. However, once I got to handle it, I'd consider it again for a future pistol project.

I find 20 LPI serrations to not offer much, and it limits your options for future front strap treatment, i.e., you can run 20 LPI horizontally on the serrations and get a semi-checkered 20 LPI front strap. Unless you send it off for welding.

Out of the two, I'd pick option 1 for aesthetics.
