Recentlly got the Vickers 2 Point Sling for my AR and it's about as perfect as a sling can be....lfor an AR

What are the top alternatives for 12 GA. applications?

I've tried the Giles 3 point and that's a "Big Zero" (way too much sling to get in the way).

I currently have a simple 2 point mounted front and aft sling, and I'm pretty happy with it. I carry it weak side muzzle down and my weak hand is always on the slide ready to mount and load one in the chamber.

Maybe I already have the best for a 12 GA application?

Any reason you dont want to run the Vickers on the shotgun?

It would ne nearly impossible to find 2 moutning points close enough on the shotty, but now that I have one, I'll give it a try.

Thanks!

Where is your rear slig attachment on the AR? If its at the junction of the receiver / buffer tube, there are companies that make a shotgun sling mount which fits between the stock & the receiver.

As for the front end, you will probably be stuck with the area where the magazine tube, barrel, etc all meet up.

You're correct about the rear sling point. It wuld be at the base of the forward part of the stock.

Everything I've seen for the "Front End" would either be buckles, or HC Clips attached to the Mag Extension sling point. I have no idea how to move that rearward esp3ecially to not interefere with the slide fore end.

Keep the great ideas coming guys....we'lll figure this out.

I wish Dave Haught was on this forum, he'd get me straight ASAP!

Thanks Mark, but the rear end is not my concern,,,it's where we can mount this sling near the front that's the question. I've used the MI rear plate for a single point sling set-u, and now my "Johnson" is in a cast. The front end needs to be anchored somwhow.

As I originally posed. I wanted to use "Button QD sling swivels", but I'm not sure that's possible for this application. I was screwing around with one of my Giles Slings (Arghhhh.) last night, and I just might need to adjust the sling in the front at rear so it hangs in front but that there is enough play to get it to the shoulder.

All in all....no biggie!

Thanks Mark...

Decided to go with a Single Point "Blue Force Gear" sling. I have 2 of them since I switched to the Vicers 2 point on my AR.

Got the GG&G single point attachment for the HK Hook. Used this combo years ago, and got some direction from Tim Lau's post over on 10-8.com. Turns out this is one of the best (in the experts opinions) way to go.

Glad it worked for you! If you want to use a Vickers, pick up that front plate that goes underneath the magazine end cap.

The main reason that I decided to go back to a One Point sling, is that I don't want amy webbing near the firend because you have to do manual operations ar that end. The Vickers or the Giles jsut put webbing in the way of operation. With any 2 point or 3 point this would be the case. I remember what a Cluster it was tryng to make the Giles Sling work on a shotty.

I know that a single point is less stable, or more "Capable of Flopping around" when hanging from the body when transitioning to the sidearm, but for the most part it fits the bill for everything else. Oh yeah...I forgot to mention the number of times a single point allowed my AR to hit me in the "Yarbies" if I wasn't careful to not control the drop of the Ar to transition to the sidearm.

Personally I like the single point Giles on my SBS, but you have to watch out for that "Johnson issue'. It can make for a very bad smiley face. (:( )
