View Full Version : I like the look of it.
This is an Ithaca model 37 12 ga. with 18 inch bayonet. I like the looks of it, although I have difficulty imagining when I would actually put it to use.
But some guns would just be fun to have, although not completely utilitarian.
FYI this sold for $1500 a couple of years ago.

Where's my FB "LIKE" button when I need it?

Those old war Ithaca guns are soooo nice.
I always wanted to get one. Problem is my gun safe is pretty full and I have a Rem 870P right now.
If that's an original Ithaca 37 trench gun, $1500 would be fairly cheap :)
Call me crazy, but I like the old trench guns too. Yes, I know a bayonet on a shotgun is pretty pointless, but you have to give it style points. I wouldn't put one on a modern fighting shotgun, but I do like to see the old guns set up that way for nostalgia's sake :)
The Ithaca M37's were some of the finest made pump shotguns.
One of the bigger strikes against them is that without a dedicated ejection port in the receiver, it's hard to switch loads or clear a malfunction compared to something like a Winchester M12 (it's contemporary) or a Remington 870/Mossberg M500/590 series.
The're light and handy, and LAPD loved them. I think that LAPD is now using 870's for their pumps and Benelli M4's for their autos, but Buck would have to confirm that.
I just found out that some guy recognized the interest in trench guns and is now making nice looking trench gun conversions.
