I have been looking at the stats and I don't see a big difference. Is there a manufacturing difference or a major material difference? If there is than I can see the extra money. Thought I would ask before investing the money. Thanks.

Weight, length and mount.

I have the older M4-2000 which is a nearly identical replica of the M4-1000. The mount is decent, the suppression is on par with Ops and Surefire, and the weight is bearable.

The new mount for the new M4-2000 is pretty slick, but not worth changing everything in my setups for....

If the 416-SD had been around, I would have gone with that can over the M4-2000. Especially after hearing how loud the 5.56 is, even when muffled.

I have an M42K that I bought several years ago and had it upgraded to 07 spec's a while back and I like the new style much better. It feels a little lighter and locks up solid on the mount way better than it used to, and you can compare the M41K to the older M42K. Go ahead and get the M42K, you won't be disappointed.

Could you tell me why you would go that route? The 416-SD is basically a repackaged SCAR-SD with the new ratchet mount. It weighs 1 ounce less and is 3/4" shorter than the new M4-2000 MOD 7, but it is SIGNIFICANTLY louder (ear-ringing even outdoors).

I'm not ragging on you at all, but just want an honest opinion. I can't figure it out except that it is a beautiful looking can. I would get one just for collection purposes.

What are your thoughts?

How does it compare to the M4-1000? Since the M4-2000 I have is like the M4-1000, the 416-SD would have represented a much shorter and much lighter can than the 2006 M4-2000 that I have....

So, I say again "If the 416-SD had been around when I bought the M4-2000, I would have gotten the 416-SD instead."

Having fired a suppressed M4-2000 inside, I wouldn't write home about the effects. Is it better than a naked muzzle on my 11.5" guns? Yeah. HOWEVER, the action noise and the supersonic crack bouncing back at you is still pretty f'ing loud.
