View Full Version : Shoot through a red dot tube with adjustable irons?

Lets say you have a 20 inch AR15 with a "always on" RDS such as the RX30, RMR, or Meprolight 21.

If you were lower third co-witnessed and wanted to take a shot far outside your zero (lets say 500 yards with a 200 yard zero)
and you adjusted your rear BUIS to 500 yards and peered through the optic...

Would the dot float out of the way or would it still obscure your view of your front sight post when using the irons?

Thanks!

I know I could get something that would turn off like an aimpoint or some such but I am interested in some battery-less optics for a EOTWAWKI rifle build. :D

I have another platform that will be receiving battery powered dots for gun games.

Thanks!

The dot would sit lower down the front sight post.

If the dot is obscuring the front sight post, it's probably two bright, IMO. But the other poster is correct, it would sit out of the way.

Is that the case for optics such as the RX30, RMR, or Meprolight 21. I mean, if I did exactly what the OP suggested with my T1, the dot would still be at the tip of the post. Or am I missing something here?
