this was on another sight and we all would like to know what it is, if you can help us out we would appreciate it. it came with a set of handguards for an m203

It's a stripped handguard for an M249 SAW. Based on the checkering I am thinking more along the lines of the original Minimi.

I thought it looked like a handguard for an M203.

The top one is a stripped M203 handguard. The bottom one is a stripped M249 SAW handguard.

If you notice the OP said "it came with a set of M203 handguards". ;)
