I am building up an A-1 clone, new parts are ok as this will not be a faithful reproduction, just a themed production.

did a google search and various manufacturer sites, no luck.

I am looking for a complete A-1 butt stock assembly. to include tube, spring, buffer and all mounting hardware.

any help?

Thank you.

Tube length is the same as an A2 Buttstock you only need a shorter screw.

If you want a "one stop" shop for the older style A1, go here:

or here for a new one

[Look for part # FA-AL-024]

I believe this is a Cav Arms stock with all the extras. As usual with Fulton, you will not get any great deals, but you will get something that works.

I don't know if you are aware of this, but the A1 takes a normal rifle buffer, receiver extension, and spring. The differences between that setup and an A2 are you will not need the extension to the receiver extension, and you will need the shorter screw. You can get the hardware (less the stock itself) from most reputable folks, such as Midway or Brownells.

The Cavalry stock is new manufactured A1 length, but has a few enhancements. I have no experience with them. Some love 'em, some most definitely do not.

Used, original A1 stocks come in two flavors: original and usually beat up (no trap door and swiveling "swivel" -- about $7 + S&H) and later, in varying quality (fixed "swivel," trap door -- about $20 + S&H). Both work well, but may need some/much work for cosmetic purposes.

I have one here somewhere. It's a few shades lighter than black, like the bottom one in the first link, and it has a cracked rear plate, which is an easy replacement. If I can find the find spring for it, it's yours if you want it, just pay for shipping. It's the complete assembly, I just need to look around for the spring.

I imagine you want a new one, but just figured I'd mention it. It came on a gun about 5 years back and never used it. A buddy had the chipped/cracked buttpad/rear plate, so I just switched them for him.

A link for the $7 one Amicus was talking about:

I got one from there, it had some wear but was in good condition. I ordered an extra screw to be sure, but the stock ended up coming with one anyway.

I used the sling swivel to feed a sling adapter through it, with the sling attaching at the top of the stock at the rear.

Yep, that's it. I would have posted the link but ran out of time. Mine have ranged in condition from "average" to VG. I once actually returned one; they must have laughed, then tossed it in the "big bin o' stocks" I understand they have on hand. I have since learned how to repair virtually any problem with these stocks.

Over a couple of years I have ordered almost a dozen of these (usually in batches of 4) and about 50% have the short screw included.

I ordered one and it was in pretty decent condition. I just hit it with a coat of alumahydeII and it looks great. Wanted to try an A1 length before dropping more money.
