Combative Pistol, Two-Day
LSU Police Range, St. Gabriel, LA
19-20 Feb 2011, Sat-Sun

This is an intensive weekend course that covers all of the essential skills involved in fighting with a handgun. There is an all day session Saturday and Sunday, 9:00am to 6:00pm.
Topics covered in this course will include:
• Rapid presentation from concealed carry
• Effective gunhandling techniques, designed to work under stress
• Rapid reloading techniques
• High speed accuracy at close ranges
• Precision shooting at mid-ranges
• Effective scanning techniques, locating additional threats
• Proper defensive mindset and more.

Expect to fire about 800-1000 rounds of ammunition. This course is designed expressly for the armed citizen who carries a concealed handgun, or the plain clothes or off duty police officer.

You will need a good handgun, holster, belt, and magazine pouch, at least three magazines, a ball cap and concealment garment (vest, jacket, windbreaker, etc), eye and ear protection, and rain gear (we train rain or shine). A cooler with soft drinks and snacks is a very good idea. We will have lunch catered on-site.

You will need a quality handgun and gear. It is a good idea to bring a second gun just like your primary, in case something breaks on your primary gun. Please bring good quality ammunition. You will shoot better, your gun will function better, and you will learn faster.

Your primary instructor will be Tom Givens, of Rangemaster, assisted by other Rangemaster staff members. TheLSU Police Range is a very nice range with a comfortable modern classroom. Call Lynn at 901-370-5600 to register. Tuition is $400.

Tom is an excellent instructor. His methodically-prepared, well-researched, and highly-entertaining presentations give straightforward advice for CCW'ers grounded in the real-world experience of both Tom and his students. With twenty-five years of teaching new and experienced shooters, he will catch tics and foibles in your shooting technique you don't even know you have. He is one of the originals but has changed and adapted his teaching content with the times in ways less inquisitive instructors cannot.

In the last two years I've trained with several recognized instructors. I learned the most practical information from Tom. If you can make this, it will be well worth your time.
