Still trying to come up with a good way to carry this piece on a Honda Recon. I have a simple set of two clamp-style velcro-closing rubber units that carry a full sized rifle (Garand/M1A/SKS, either uncased or in a canvas case). They ride fore-and-aft on the tubes of the rear rack, somewhat like a rear-facing saddle scabbard on the off side of a horse) But this doesn't work well for the M4gery.

Very little room on the handlebars for any racks that appeal. Could rig something on the front rack (tubular bars, not a platform) but would rather not stick the carbine out there if I don't have to.

Carry on the person would work out but the sling setups I have experimented with don't seem to offer comfortable carry and sufficient control and protection while moving. There was an article in "Law Enforcement Weapons" or some such magazine recently showing some USAF types on ATVs--but the muzzle of the slung weapon looked like it was going to be constantly banging into things.

Just wondering if anyone has worked out anything that is better?

I have tried several methods and have settled on the Mad Dog double rifle rack that mounts to the front gear rack. I am currently using this rig on a Honda Rancher. I used the single rifle rack on an older Recon. I like keeping the carbine on the front rack. It is pretty accessible and I don't have to worry about it bouncing around. This carry method does not work as well with longer rifles (M1A) in heavy brush.

I carried one on duty on our ATV Unit. Did not like the mounts I saw, and wore it across my chest on a Spectre CQB sling. We rode hard, and often, and I thought the ACOG, or the EOTech when I had one would get knocked around too much.
Uncomfortable and inconvenient, but the weapon was right there if I needed it, in some shady places with no backup anytime soon.
As an aside, as wet and dirty as it got, the M4A1 ran like a champ! That experience, and this forum, caused me to choose Colt for my second AR.

This is what I use on my Rincon.

Grant,

I'll be the first to admit that Ohio's got it's weaknesses, but, you wouldn't have been commuting to the range in VA Beach on that..........

:)

That is for sure, but out in Suffolk (the sticks to VA Beach residents) my ATV setup would have fit right in. :D

I got mone from Bass Pro several years ago. I search their website & closest that I found now is this:

http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_26677_400009004_400000000_400009000_400-9-4

May be the same company just a newer version

Also, saw Grant's model for sale:
