View Full Version : Doc's take on duty loads

Doc, forgive me if covered elsewhere. Currently my dept. issues the following loads: Fed 230HST+P in .45, Fed HST 165 and Rem 165 Golden Sabre in .40. Thus far, in putting down injured animals, the .45 load is outstanding while the 2 .40 loads are a bit less remarkable(as compared to prior use of WW 155 STHP). In the one OIS our dept. has logged with the .40, the HST did the job pretty well, considering the shot placement(2 center mass hits, 9 elsewhere, 2 officers involved).
Your take on our issue loads? As firearms instructor(recently promoted to the job), I want to ensure our guys get the best we can give them. Thanks!

In .45 ACP I prefer 230 grain HP's...

In .40 S&W I prefer 180 grain HP's...
