Unfortunately, it's not the E3 but one of the post ban ones. Here goes.

I ended up buying this on a whim while looking for something else. Owner stated it was unfired (other than factory test firing?) and it appears so to my untrained eye. BCG was bone dry when I got it.

(Note: FWIW this is not the one rsilvers was selling/sold on GB).

I decided to give KAC a call about removing the flash hider, and ended up speaking with a very helpful guy who not only knew his stuff, but sounded very proud of his product. Kudos to him. He provided a lot of the information below.

The BCG: KAC has used at least 3 different types of bolt carriers in these post ban SR-15's, including bcg's from Colt. Some were chromed, some not. This one is half-circle and has the C markings. Colt ban-era maybe?

Anyone have any other info? There's no telling if this is original (no reason for it not to be), but one of Grant's BCG's is on the shopping list.

See the pics comparing the staking with that of a current vintage Colt 6933.

The trigger: 2 stage KAC trigger, this one has the red disconnector spring. The red spring is about a pound lighter than the blue spring, giving it a 3.5 break according to KAC. I'm far from knowledgeable and I don't have anything to measure this with. All I can say is the trigger feels excellent with a very predictable, crisp break.

Stock: previous owner changed the stock from the original A2 (included) to a collapsible type. It's a commercial tube and not staked, both will be remedied. (Milspec LMT/Magpul?).

Barrel: per KAC not chrome lined and ok to chop as needed (NFA rules and all that), it has a fake flash hider which is actually a type of sleeve or shroud around the actual barrel. It is not silver soldered or pinned in place. The end of the barrel actually has splines and the sleeve that looks like the fh goes over the barrel under force. the slots are fake. I wanted to install an AAC FH to be able to use my M42K can but that'll have to wait for now.

Upper has the regular KAC carbine RAS. No bayo lug on FSB being post ban. The guy I spoke with at KAC (I was transferred to the assembly floor when I called) actually said if it were his, he'd just leave the upper as is for now, stock, for any potential resale value, and just build - or have something built in my case - a new upper for this lower. I'm sure Grant has no shortage of options.

Only optic I have available for it at the moment is that EOTech, so that'll have to suffice for now. I'm hoping to take it for a spin in the next few days.

Great rifle, but the faux flash hider was beyong ridiculous. I realize the AWB dictated such an abomination....but it just never sat well with me. Easy enough to fix...I'd buy that rifle in a heart beat.

Nice gun.
