Jason, That carbon barrel and forend is real sharp. How does it shoot and how does it handle? I imaging it would point faster than a steel barrel because of the weight savings.

Shot great, although I didn't get to play with it much before it went to its new home:( .6 with Federal GMM. Nice weight, not a feather but much lighter than an all steel AR10 upper and very comfortable and fast pointing.

I'm sure the owner is very pleased with that!

Sorry about so mant errant posts. I am still learning this posting stuff. The rifle is essintially a DPMS bases .308, 20" barrel flat top built to a custom spec for a friend who is a DC transit Cop. it shoots sub MOA out past at least 300 yards the longest distance we have shot it. That is with both Match Grade and Non match grade ammo.

Thanks Mark5, She's a little on the short side. I call her "Little Devil" She's my bug out girl. Still it will be interesting to see what she will do at 500-600 yds.
I think a 16" AR10 would be a hot motor scooter. Put a CAR on it and you will need a stick to beat them back when you take it to the range.:D
Out past 600 I like a bolt guns, but I like this AR10 platform so well I may try a 21" with a little more punch. What's the next size up in and still stay .30?

Hey SSG!
Tell us more about your Noveske! Is that the 21" bbl upper? How about the lower? Noveske, or did you go with an Armalite purchased seperately?
How is it grouping? What kind of ammo you running, and what distances are you shooting?
Drop some info bro! I just received mine, which appears to be exactly like yours, but I have not obtained an optic yet, so no range time yet!

Is that a spinoff of the new SABR? What does REPR stand for? I haven't been following the SABR release much lately. Any info appreciated.

It is the production model. There may have been some legal issues with the name SABR, so they changed it to REPR ( Rapid Engagement Precision Rifle).

Geez, I thought that might have been the case.
Well, did LWRC at least offer us the same exact build, features, and specs as the SABR they advertised for years leading up to now, or did they screw it up, and stick a cheaper bbl on, with less or different features throughout?
I sure hope they stayed true to the SABR design with this "REPR".
Thanks, and I hope you like your rifle...

They actually added more features. Adjustable gas piston system instead of the regular gas piston system, Adjustable Geissele trigger, ambi bolt release, and in my opinion a much nicer looking hand guard, with modular rails. It is more than the original SABR, but they honored the SABR price for all those who had the original SABR on order. I was one of those lucky people. They stayed with the same barrel that was in the SABR, cold hammer forged and lapped.

I don't think you got my point. Not likely your fault though. I probably wasn't clear.
I am fully aware that LWRC added some features as they progressed along with the SABR program. Lord knows they had time to design, and re-design it several times over. (No complaints here though, as hopefully this means they got it right the first time.)
Anyhow, what I'm wanting to know, is - DID LWRC GIVE US (CIVIS) THE SAME GUN AS THE MILITARY, or did we get screwed as we have in the past with other weapon programs? (ie Hk416 - "MR556"/
IOW's,
Does REPR = Military SABR, OR is the difference ONLY in the name change?

From everything that i have read on LWRC's forum, it is a name change alone.

Local gun store had a couple of them. Seemed pretty nice. The hand guard is a small diameter, the whole gun felt light for a 7.62 gun. I don't remember the price $2500?

Probably. Since I've been on this sight, my frame of reference has changed. I use to think $1000 was a lot for an AR. Now that is an upper, with out optics.

That the same AR as on the previous page?
Yes it is a 13.7 Noveske. It was originally a 14.5 but with the pig pinned but, I went to my local shop JD Machine where they had this same set up only DPMS. I originally just wanted to throw a Vortex on there but after seeing their rifle I wanted this set up. This is the closest thing to a Leonidas I can have in the great state of California. So they cut the barrel down and pinned the KX3 back on it. We will see. Hopefully I don't lose any reliability. I talked to Joel at Noveske and he said it shouldn't be a problem.
Looks awesome with the Pig on it.
Thanks!!! I can't wait to get it to the range!!!!! I'm still a little nervous cutting down a Noveske barrel but, they said it should be good. We will see tomorrow.
JD has cut a few barrels i have shot and i have never had any issues with los of reliability or accuracy. i assume the guns you saw were these, i'm in there all the time bullshitting with rob, lol.

BigJoe those are some nice looking rifles!!!!!! I'm waiting on my ACS to come in. Seems a little nicer in the shoulder. What is the furthest range you have been shooting your 13.7? Do you still feel like you are getting the same accuracy as a 14.5? What barrels are you using? Yeah Rob is a good guy. He totally took care of me. I couldn't be happier with the look but, I haven't ever cut a barrel down so I'm just a little nervous because it was bullet proof before I did this. Never a jam or miss fire. I can't wait for tomorrow to see how it does!

2 main improvements I wanted to address & share.
Weight has always been one of the issues with AR10's as a battle rifle. I have been working on reducing that weight as best I can w/o compromising etc.
Designs, materials etc. are continually improving.
1) Surefire M300a weighs approx. 4.5 Oz's. Big improvement in weight reduction w/o too much compromise in lumens/durability etc.
2) The CH mod 3 or 4 is big improvement to the original poorly designed minimalistic CH that suffered from the get go imo.
BIG improvement Gents.

I have always wanted a shorter 7.62 system than my M1A and pre-ban 24" AR-10T sitting the back of the safe... Then I found out Noveske AR-10 uppers were actually available now and excitedly picked up a 16" at my local EBR store! I then shortened my stock with a VLTOR buffer extension, a beautiful shiny heavybuffers.com shorty buffer, and all the other stuff on there to make it basically match my AR setups. It has a Nightforce NSX 1-4X on it with the FC-2 reticle that seems like it was made for this rifle! The 2MOA dot seems just right for a big 7.62 hole. The reticle lines up nicely to 100, 300, 400, and 550 yards for minute of man. It also weighs the same as my Recce AR at 11.75lbs.
I only have a couple hundred rounds through now but it is shooting one hole groups with Black Hills 168 and Hornady TAP FPS. Heck, it shot a one hole group with Win white box 7.62! It has also digested AE 150, Radway Green and Hirtenberger surplus with no issues. The Armalite 25rd mag works too!
I am surprised at the lack of blast even when shooting indoors, I guess the Vortex blows stuff forward and there has been no obvious flash from any of the loads like I thought a 16" barrel might have. I can keep the target in view through the scope even at 4x for follow up shots as well. Feels like launching bowling balls downrange as opposed to 5.56 :D
Sorry for crappy cellphone pic, too busy drooling to break out a real camera...

Thanks! Definitely a blast when you are used to shooting 5.56 AR's. I'll have to do some more serious training with it to see if I can use it outside of the obvious short/medium range DMR role.
Now if only it could be a duty weapon someday... (Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.....)

The scope is a US Optics SN-4 1.5-6x with .5 MOA elevation and windage knobs under the dust covers. It also has an 11 position rheostat for the red illuminated JNJ (MOA) reticle.
Thanks, that seams like it would be a great scope for that platform.

IMO the ideal DMR type optic would be a (true) 1x-10x with a daylight vizible circle and milradian substentions. I would also like to get 30mpg in a full sized truck but neither are gonna happen.
IMO this is one of the best options available for a dual use (LR/CQB) rig. I have tried other brands on the high end spectrum of optics and I always come back to USO. Great folks, great CS and bomb proof glass.

Groups start opening up from 400 to 500 to 600. View from the 600 yard berm, 600 yard target on point 3 (another shooter breaking in a National Match Course rifle), four E-types at point 4. Winds switching from 3 minute full value to half value from the left.
http://i29.tinypic.com/30a6tfn.jpg]http://i29.tinypic.com/30a6tfn.jpg
600 yard target (at this range just a little wider than 3 MOA). Lost a few to the right. Not so much a group as still hitting steel. Target puller says rounds still smacking hard. Shoulda brought the sling. Not bad for a 16-inch pencil carbine barrel with a 3 minute full value wind.

Also, how is it on recoil with the MOE stock?
Great thread. Looking to buy an AR10 for hunting/home defense. Probably 16" Rock River Arms or DPMS, quad-rail handguard, Grip Pod Foregrip, Streamlight TLR-2, hunting scope, Magpul MBUS sights, and undecided on a buttstock.
JP Enterprises has it as an option to get a CTR installed during manufacturing. recoil is not bad. out the box its kind of .308ish but the gas block is adjustable so after some tuning you can virtually eliminate the recoil and have it feeling like 5.56

Love your setup, How Long is that Barrel? And I noticed your running a switchblock How do you like it? I am currently building a Iron Arms and deciding how how long of a barrel I want to go with for a max yardage of 600.
Thanks
Drty..
Thanks, it is a 21" SS Noveske barrel. This rifle seriously shoots! Just one ragged hole.
I really like the adjustable gas block. The rifle did not have the GB to start out but I was popping primers with the can on. I sent the rifle to Noveske and they installed the gasblock and it made a big difference.
I am at school but will be headed home this weekend and I will snap a few more pics. If you want to shoot out to 600, you should be able to go a bit shorter with a barrel.

I bought an Armalite AR10 A4 and was pleased with it's reliability and accuracy out of the box.
However, I primarily got it to build a M110 type rifle so, I assembled a second upper from parts to change it to M110 SASS sniper configuration.

With the original upper on it changes from sniper rifle back to assault rifle. Upgrades to the A4 upper include the Armalite carry handle & rear sight with a Midwest Industries folding diopter front sight and Harris sling/bipod mount on the hand guard.

I have shot it quite a bit with the A4 upper with good results but, have only been to the range once with the M110 upper. After a few adjustments, with regular military ammo, it was shooting five shot groups you could cover with a quarter at 50 yards. The rifle is capable of much more and I'm looking forward to testing it at longer ranges and with some match grade ammo. As noted by a previous poster, the Noveske barrel is unbelievably accurate.

I've really wanted a SR25EMC for as long as I've known about them. They are pretty much tits in my book. Unfortunately, I came to the conclusion that I will not be able to afford one. So I started this project in hopes that I could have something similar to my dream battle rifle. It also didn't hurt to spread the cost out over time... I'm pretty happy with how it came out. No it's not a Knight's or a MWS nor is it a true N6 (just the upper assembly is Noveske) but it shoots straight, it shoots fast and it makes me all warm and fuzzy inside just like a 308 battle rifle should...

Will post better pictures later. Rifle was built a few years ago but have made upgrades since. Carbine was recently assembled. Love 'em both and decided to snap some pics of them together. Still might make a few minor changes to the rifle. I don't like the Eagle Arms gas block but I guess it gets the job done.

Wow that MOE looks nice on the rifle! I assume this is the MOE furniture for the AR15 stuff & not a new product?
ALSO
How is the front sling point attached-to a section of rail attached to the handgaurd or gas block? Is it sturdy?
I think this might be the ticket to lighten up my AR10, as I have a quad rail handgaurd from Troy on there now but the only thing I'll add will be a bipod at times.

The MOE is the standard AR15 model handguard. I had to do some fitting to get it installed, but it was real minor and I'm glad it was required because I wanted a tight fit. The sling is attached to the rifle with the standard Armalite sling swivel that is pinned onto the gasblock, just like it came from the factory. I might change it to a QD mount with the addition of one of Magpul rails that mount to the MOE. I'm not sure how sturdy it will be so I'm thinking I might go with an MS2 sling and ASAP on this setup. This thing is really light and easy to handle, much more than my other AR10 carbine which is a "T" model with Armalite NM rail. I will get the CTR stock and MIAD grip tomorrow and will post pics after installing them. Will also post some pics of how the MOE handguard was modified to be installed. Stay tuned and let me know if I can help anymore. Thanks for the compliments.

ARKAR, that is a fine looking rifle. You have inspired me to go lightweight on my carbine also. I love the Sully stock but I'm going with the CTR. I am already using the MOE handguard but with the Armalite fixed front sight tower. I was looking for a little project over the holidays! Great work.
Thanks! My other carbine is a little on the heavy side so that's why I wanted a lighter carbine when I bought this one. So far, I love it.

I just picked up a Vicker's sling for it on the Blue Force Gear website for 1/2 price by ordering the green sling. Got the dual QD sling swivel model for $34.98 free shipping! This works perfectly with the CTR stock since I can run it with a sling swivel on each side of the stock kind of like a single point sling but I mounted a swivel on the MOE also so that I can go right back to a two point. I'll try to snap some pics later.
Thanks again,
ARKAR

Kinda New to the whole AR Build. Got me a DPMS .308 AP4, got a decent wish list but have a few questions. Will a Magpul UBR stock fit on the current buffer tube without modifications or will it have to be taken to a gunsmith to fix? I also want to know if the standard length Freefloat tube that is vented and has machined rails will fit without too much modification to an aftermarket gasblock.

Sorry about the garbage pictures I cant find ether charger for my DSLR. One of these days I'll weigh it with a good scale but as of now I've been using a normal scale where I stand on it and weigh myself then hold the rifle and do it again. I've never had a difference of more then 10lbs (after like 12 times of on and off) so I figure I'm safe to say under 10lbs :D

Be REALLY careful with the allens on the TRX, both of my heli-coils pulled through and Troy has been real slow to get me a shipping label to get it fixed to I ended up backing it with ny-locks that I blued (so they didn't stand out so much) and longer allens, in case it never gets done.

Yeah I sent them a nasty gram email today, and if/when I get my new one or this one repaired I'm thinking I may go ahead and be REALLY careful putting it together with these longer allens then just use the ny-locks to back them to prevent them from pulling through. My .223 MRF has been awesome and I haven't had any problems with it (other then its heavy)

I'm actually puzzled by this pic, it is from 2007 (pre-Magpul days?) and things do change- but no front sight? Noveske Pig thing on a barrel that long? Three point sling? Even a CTR stock is unusual and I can't remember that lasttime I saw Travis run an Eotech. Like I said, old pic, but not that old. Its also AR10 not SR25 pattern.
