Just picked this thing up today. I am looking forward to abusing it thoroughly...

And....me shooting Jeremy Clarkson on the TV...just for fun

It really appears to have been BARELY fired. Very clean, very little finish wear on the rail. I am very happy with it.

Looks good. Where did you find it and for how much?

I love those old West German 226's. I had one, and sold it when I standardized on Glock 9mm pistols. That was the hardest one to sell, of all 10 I got rid of.

Surefire and Streamlight both make adapters to hang an X300 off the front.

Beautiful pistol, use it in good health. Was it a CPO trade-in?

This pistol was at a sporting goods store about 30 minutes from home. A guy that spends LOTS of money at this store brought in about 80 handguns a couple of weeks ago because he was running out of room in his safe or safes. This was one of them. I didn't see it at first, but then I saw the muzzle of a SIG (I have never been a SIG owner but always liked them and have wanted one for a while) and asked if I could look at it. It didn't take me long to tell the clerk to please put this in the back for me, and that I would be up in a few days to buy it. $600 was the price. It came with two original mags, the original box, original paperwork, and test target. As far as I know...the guy bought this probably brand new, shot about half a box through it, and put it in his safe. He (the rich dude that buys a lot of stuff from this store) usually buys two of everything. Shoots one, and keeps the other one new.

I HAD to buy it...I didn't want some punk to buy it and not appreciate it.

Yeah, man...Top Gear is the bomb

Holy poop, it was a blue box Sig?

You did well, in my very humble opinion. Most red box CPO Sigs run about $550 here, when you can find one. A nice older one like yours is not seen very often, at least around here.

Very nice snag, and I am glad it found such an appreciative home. :)

Great find!
I had a similar experience at a Cabelas a year ago where I found a pre 2006 Sig 226 Navy complete with certificate of authenticity and four extra mags, one of which was an old german parkerized mag. The pistol was used, but the rails, like yours, were in tip top shape, and I got away with it for $600. That same day, I saw one there that was a West German Sig for about 550, also in good shape, but couldn't aford both.

Actually the box was a yellow color...not sure what that means.

Thanks for the approval, gents.

On another note...the single action trigger pull on this thing is NICE. Nicer than a lot of Sigs (old or new) that I have handled.

Great gun. I just sold mine to standardize to glock.

Nice looking gun, although I am not sure why you would want to shoot Jeremy Clarkson, the man is surely part genius ;)

Haha Clarkson is good stuff.

I actually used one of his quotes at the range one time...some guy was shooting a SOCOM 16 next to us and it was loud as hell. I said "Sounds like it's running on diced lions." and....no one new what I meant. But, I enjoyed it.

Dang it...just hijacked my own thread...is that possible?

Man that's hands down my favorite 9mm ever made, ever. I bought mine for 450 last June from a guy who had his in a safe for 17 years, still had the new gun smell in the box, never fired. Nice piece, take care of her, they don't make em like they used to.

Nice pistol.

I love German 226's. I just traded my Glock for one....they are great guns.

Nice purchase.

I still have mine that I bought new in the mid 90's. The gun is freakishly accurate with my reloads.

I have one and it's still one of my favorite pistols...They all have a redish hue at the nose of the slide where the import markings are found. I actually had mine refinished by CCR beacuse that bothered me.

I bought mine new and it came in a Sig Cardboard box.... I don't think I'll ever sell mine.:)

Nice purchase! I am not a big fan of DA/SA guns but I really want a German P226. They fit great in the hands and I shoot them very well. Its one of the very few hand guns I want to find and purchase this year.

That's a clean P226. Here's my 1988 P226:

These are the guns that Sig built their reputation on.
