The movie studios, cable channels, syndication and Blockbuster need to get it through their skull that streaming movies is the future. The market for DVD sales is dead. If blu-ray wasn't so damn beautiful it would be in trouble too.

If Redbox can lock up new releases (which they probably wont) for streaming and includes their kiosks for rentals, Netflix is srewed. I am a Netflix subscriber and I think it is a great service, but competition is a good thing.

According to Company Town, Redbox prez Mitch Lowe informed analysts yesterday that its upcoming online movie service would be subscription-based like Netflix and Hulu Plus instead of charging per-movie like iTunes, Zune or Amazon VOD (we can guess why.)
