Utah and now Arizona. I wonder which state will be the next to adopt a state firearm. Texas maybe?

I hope Oregon follows suit.

I vote Glock 17 as the official state gun. Or M16.

Could be. I bet they go for something in a major caliber, like the M-2 Browning.

Or an electric bong shaped like a gun that you smoke with the barrel in your mouth.

Awesome!

I wonder what's it gonna be for California. The nozzle at then end of a garden hose? Or would that be considered as an assault weapon when compared to a water pistol?

Georgia's is def going to be the Glock.

Seeing as someone was just killed in CA back in December when his water hose was mistaken for a gun, I doubt it. A nerf gun with a bullet button seems more likely.

I vote Winchester 73 for Nevada, the gun that won the west!!!

I think Georgia should get the G18.... and I'm happy for Tennessee to get the 308..... it is the patron state of shooting stuff.

They're based in Smyrna so they pretty much have to! H&K is also based in GA (Colombus), and masterpiece arms, and a bunch more.

Call me old fashioned, but I think Tennessee's should be something along the lines of this little rifle: http://www.dixiegunworks.com/product_info.php?products_id=14621 ;)

I could see that. On the clear other end of the spectrum we do have Barrett in Tennessee

Barrett's in TN? I didn't know that. The only "modern-day" manufacturer I knew about was Sabre. I learnded somethin' today. :D

You know, it's all well and good, but aren't there more pressing matters for a legislature to be considering than a 'state gun'? I can understand Utah doing a commemorative for Browning on the 100th anniversary of his most famous weapon's adoption by the military, but... the 1873 Colt wasn't designed in Arizona, nor was it particularly unique. It just seems like a waste of time that could be better spent, oh, I don't know, fixing the damn budget?

Sadly I don't think Cali is going to get a whistle.

I saw this as I was walking back to my car from lunch the other day. http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a285/loupav/IMG00839-20110225-1447.jpg

You would rather that they raised taxes and passed some gun control bills into law?

I dont see AZ passing any gun control laws any time soon. There has been an individual rights movement in this state for the last couple years now.

My point is that it's a good direction for the legislature. I don't see a reason for complaint, especially with all the damage that a more active legislative body could do.

I beg to differ. I am an AZnian and there are many things that the state needs to fix first before spending money on passing a state gun. Don't get me wrong, I love my guns and all but the state should be there to fix the problems. AZ has a state unemployment of 9.7% (source (http://www.bing.com/apps/geography/search?domain=geography&loadExperience=1&q=arizona+unemployment+rate&qpvt=arizona+unemployment+rate)) which is about to rise with snowbirds and farm workers leaving which is a major money bust for the state. AZ cut KidsCare which was ensuring 47,000 low-income children along with cutting $1.1 billion in education funding and social programs. Now our governor is planning on cutting 250,000 in MedicAid. Arizona also cut part of the budget for the DPS and now if forced to respond to less than half the calls for service received. Arizona is facing its fourth straight year of budget deficits. This year's gap is estimated at $763 million and a $1.15 billion deficit in fiscal 2012, according to Brewer's office but yet we decide to spend money in a state firearm and unwinable lawsuits. AZ no longer can spend on unecessary things since there are many things that need to be fixed.
