I took a look at Powder Valley prices, All the powders suitable for the .223 were within 5-7 dollars of each other for 8lbs. I think WW 748 was on the high end. I use AA2230.

TAC or H335

This is the cheapest I've found below (WC844). H335 or W748 are good for 55 grain pills.

Buy a large lot, and the hazmat is free. Also helps to keep your loads more consistent jug to jug.

BLC-2 from powder valley works well for me with 55 gr MG bullets. I plan to pick up a case of 844 from Hitech next. I saw they have it on GB for $350 shipped if you pay with money order. Thats pretty competetive for 32 pounds of powder.

Here is hi-tech's actual website

I did not get my WC844T from them but I did get a bunch of SALUT russian pistol powder and some other stuff a few years back and they were GTG.

Really doesn't matter what powder you use they are all about the same price! Look around and you can find deals every now and then!
My go to powder for AR has been Benchmark -very consistant clean burning powder! And for the load you want is an excellant choice!:D

They're really not all about the same price so it does pay off to research and shop around.

TAC! Cheap, meters well, and is capable of higher velocities than most other powders! Plus, Ramshot provides a lot of .223/5.56 data for it!

The least expensive by far will be the pull down WC844. Hi tech ammo has it at $85 per 8 lbs with free hazmat when you buy a case of 4. Powder works fine and is non canister grade H335.

Just FYI the wc846 is basically non canister grade blc2 and supposedly the w748 and blc2 are the same thing.

AA2230, TAC, and Varget all work well for me. I haven't really found a cheap powder. They all run about $20 a pound locally.

Has anyone ran WC846 through a Dillon? How does it meter? Also, has anybody built a similar load with W748, and how does the 846 compare? Thanks for any help!

It should meter just fine. It is a ball powder. It should work ok for heavier bullets. Not ideal for lighter. WC844 is better for the 55/62 grain range.

WC846 is supposedly a non canister grade version of W748/BLC2. That means that different lots may be different so need to be worked up separately, but conservative W748 data can be used to start.
