Q on Vltor LP steel gasblock

Anyone ever tried re-blackening these things with cold blue or aluminum black? I dremmelled the one i have on one of my middies to clear the chin of my RISII MK18 rail and to my surprise, it wont blacken at all with aluminum black.

They're stainless steel, so most of the Alumi-black & Coldblue type treatments won't really take.

Best cheap answer is to hit it with some flat black krylon or hi-temp paint.

If you wanted to get fancy with it, I believe that Caswells Plating has some sort of solution that's $20 or so...

Thinking it was steel, I wouldve preferred just cold bluing it and keeping it oiled to prevent rust but since it's stainless, I'll go ahead and paint it.
