Sure those aren't blanks or simunitions? I find it difficult to believe they would shoot 90* into the air with live ammunition, considering the falling rounds could potentially come back down and kill them.

yea... not live rounds- which is probably why all it did was blow his hat off. good job not breaking ranks.

it happens as they're charging.... so he either had his finger on and depressing the trigger while charging the weapon, or it was a slamfire or some other malfucntion. anybody have any idea what they're shooting?

Even with blanks (which is what I suspect those are) you need to still follow the safety rules and that fails.

Where is it and what were the rifles?
