christcorp,

If you disagree please elaborate? FWIW- I saw a CMMG upper complete at the gun show this weekend. It was about 90.00 cheaper than the Colt above.

Are you seriously going to say that the CMMG is better?

If you say so.

Wow. Those 6920 upper prices are really just about inline with an equivalent BCM.

Would love to see them add LPKs too.

That seems to be the best price around for their bcg. That I've found at least.

Those prices are roughly in line with Daniel Defense uppers that are sold locally here in Vegas. Not too bad imo.

Yeah, I think my next upper will definitely have a Colt BCG and charging handle.

This just raised the bar.

As much as I like BCM/DD & other vendors, Colt is the standard everyone(well maybe not everyone) strives to reach and/or exceed.

Good news for buyers

Now if they would only make a 14.5 light wt. middie & a 20" light wt.

and a light wt. in 6.8 with a Spec II chamber a 1:11 twist and chrome
line the bore & chamber

;)

Matech

it's the same BUIS issued to the troops

Was surprised at how low the prices on the uppers were then I noticed they were the recently announced SP variants rather than the LE ones. As I recall it's been confirmed that there are no real differences...just thought it was interesting and in that context the pricing was less surprising. If nothing else, it's nice to see Colt start becoming more competitive (at least price wise) with other vendors.

This is pretty cool, but I can't help but prefer the options that Bravo Company offers that Colt does not. Hammer forged lightweight barrels, mid-length gas systems, etc.

Good move by Colt, but they need another move or two to catch up.

That being said, I still love my 6920.

This is great news. I would love to get my hands on a couple LPK's for the larger trigger/hammer pin lowers.

I could swear at one time Colt announced that they would be making the right pin sized upper to allow the fitting of 6920 and 6940 uppers for older Colts.

just curious....

are the Colt bolts and bcgs made by CMT or in house?

if made by CMT, would they be the same as the CMT bolt/bcg found in say a noveske? minus batch vs individual testing of the bolt.

thx.

Well I got all excited there for a moment, but sadly no 6933 uppers. :(

They need to add a 6720 upper for me to slap on top of my 6920!

Pair these up with an LMT lower and one can build one hell of a rifle for about $1000.

There truly is no excuse any more to skimp on quality.

Outstanding ! Good to see Colt Has Not forgot about us civilians .with all the Ar Companies popping up.I guess they thought it was time to go back and cash in on the market

CaptainDooley

I hope they bring those to market and I hope they sell a metric crapload of them.

How about some complete lowers as well! I would slap an SR15e3 upper on top of a colt lower and I have my self one kick ass department approved carbine!

There are really two Colt companies now, Colt's Manufacturing and Colt Defence. Are they equal? 6920LE comes from Colt Defense. These come from Colt's Manufacturing. Does it matter?

I've been telling y'all this for awhile now. Colt Manufacturing gets the MT line, and now the Sp line from Colt Defense.

According to a rep, I emailed a few years ago, they are all the same, except for the obvious differences, like 1/9 barrel(where listed) or ban compliant parts. Every bolt in every weapon is MPI/HPT

They are the same.

Colt Defense was split off from Colt's Manufacturing Company in 2002 in order to focus on the military, law enforcement and security markets. so Not really they have the same QC

My MT Lower Is marked Colt Defense It came off a MT 6400 which I put a Colt 6921 upper on it

Interesting. Just for reference:

$400 BCM M4 Upper Receiver Group (http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCM-M4-16-Upper-Receiver-Group-p/bcm-urg-m4-16.htm)
$140 BCM Auto BCG (http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCM-Bolt-Carrier-Group-MPI-Auto-M16-p/bcm%20bolt%20carrier%20group%20auto%20mp.htm)
$23 BCM M4 handguard (http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/M4-Handguards-Black-p/bcm%20handguards%20m4%20black.htm)
$23 CMT charging handle (http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/AR15-Charging-Handle-p/charging%20handle%20ar15.htm)
That's a $586 subtotal, and the 6920 upper appears to come with a Matech BUIS. Factor in that the Colt BCG is also $40 more expensive (which is also a good price considering they're typically north of $200) and you're right in the ballpark.

Obviously those wishing for a mid-length are not served by this offering, but it's a nicer reversal to see from Colt.

Yes please. and at other-than-SAW pricing would be nice.

It's about time that Colt started worrying about selling to civilians more. Probably worried that the government money will eventually run out.

Like others have said though, Colt needs to play catch up and then come out with something that will knock one out of the ballpark so to speak.

Maybe this will lower prices on some other companies offerings!

Don't forget about Colt Canada (formerly Diemaco, in Ontario).

Colt and CMT have NOTHING to do with one another (FYI). So the answer to your question is NO.

You aren't going to see NFA uppers out of Colt. Their legal dept. thinks that uppers under 16" in length are illegal to own.

The blue Custom Shop boxes, similar to the boxes that 70 series 1911's come in, are a nice touch.

maybe i'm getting mixed up here with Cerro forge and CMT.

Cerro forge, forges for Colt right? or does colt have their own forge? i thought i remembered seeing the cerro keyhole forge mark on colt uppers.

thx for the info.
