Hello there,

New guy here. I own a Bushmaster M4.
I have not shot it a lot due to time restrictions and what not but plan to get better trained with it this summer. I have been shooting 55 grainers with the 1/9 twist. I plan on using 62 grainers to get better accuracy and hits on Coyotes.

I am excited to learn from you guys here. Looks like a decent site!

Welcome. Plenty of good information here.

Make sure you read the threads that are tacked at the top of each forum, they can save you a lot of time and trouble.

Good luck with those coyotes.

Welcome, you'll find that the quality of the information here is not the quantity of postings from users here...

Lots of info to be found in the sticky's. Most of the time I find myself searching and reading...

yes it is gonna be a long work day/weekend. I plan to do a lot of reading.

One problem in my neck of the woods is we don't have a lot of Pistol and AR action courses or comps, I really wish we did.

Mike,
Try looking at the USPSA and IDPA websites. That's how I found my club which is only 20 min. away. There may also be info. at the NRA site. I think each of the sites has a way to look up clubs or ranges.
Good luck and welcome.

Sure, I always heard that heavier bullets are better in the 1/9 twist.
I have a box of Black Hills 62 grainers that I will try out. Way to much snow still.

I'm assuming you're in New Hampshire, Mike. As far as training goes, there's a couple of different options in town. The SigArms Academy is little pricy, but good, and I just saw a link via IDPA for a group that gets together at Pelham Fish and Game...Tactial Arts Group. I'll be checking them out this spring to knock the rust off my IDPA and hopefully some carbine work.

Yes I am in NH

I have been to Sig academy a couple of times, great place!
I also heard that Pelham does stuff like that, I will have to go to the website. I would like to do pistol drills and AR drills. I have a weird schedule so I don't know if it would be something I can do regulary.

I belong to chester r & g, although a great club, they really don't do anything of the sort.

Thanks for the info!

There is more going on in NH than you might think.

For pistol and carbine matches, check out:
Pioneer Sportsmen (http://www.nouveauhosting.com/PioneerSportsmen/)
Pemi Fish&Game (http://pemi.org/)
Pelham Fish&Game (http://www.pelhamfishandgame.org/)

Pelham has 6 or 7 3-gun matches listed on their calender, but it is unclear whether this is actually the case or they will be regular IDPA pistol matches.

For formal training opportunities in NH, check out:
The Sig Academy, as already mentioned
NEShooters (http://www.neshooters.com/index.htm)
Certain Victory LLC (http://www.certainvictoryfirearmstraining.com/) our very own Vickers' Shooting Method instructor

Pioneer Sportsmen sometimes hosts courses, but I've never seen one listed on their website.

For informal training opportunities, check out:
NH TAG (http://www.nhtag.org/)

Last year, Pelham had a Friday carbine night, I don't know if it is scheduled for this coming season.

Awesome. I have been to sig, great place. I also looked at Pelham clubs web site, looks like last year they had some IDPA and carbine matches. I E-mailed them and asked what their upcoming schedule looks like. I will check those other links, thanks!

Edit to add: Both Pelham and Dunbarton are within 30 minutes of my house. Hopefully I can make some matches. I will suck at it but it is still fun.
