I'm building a 16" midlength with a DD upper and barrel. I decided on a LaRue free float rail, but I have two questions:

Is the barrel nut on the LaRue steel or aluminum?

and, while I found many instructions online, what are the torque ratings for the LaRue barrel nut? Same as a standard nut?

Thank you.

Not sure. Probably steel.

Same as normal. Grease and torque with wrench

Thanks. Yeah, I figured. But anyone know if the nut is steel or aluminum?

If you go to the LaRue website there is a video and instructions about the installation.

OK, thanks guys. I didn't see that video link on the website.

Its been awhile since I installed my LaRue rail but I recall the barrel nut being awfully light for it to be steel.

I'll email LaRue and ask them then post back and let you know.

The larue nut is steel. I've recently installed two of them.

Alright, I thank you all, and here I the response I got from J.P. at LaRue: "The barrel nuts are made from steel."
