How to tell difference between Gen 3 and Gen 4 Glock mags??

Silly question probably. Does it have a identical cut on the other side of the mag?

Well on my glock 19 mags the older ones are solid black on the ones that came with my new glock 19 their is a peice of silver metal behind the mag release cut out

So if I were to flip the mag release to the other side for lefty manipulation it would work as long as I have mags with the silver cutout in the middle?

The Gen4 mags have mag release cutouts on both sides of the magazine. I have Gen3 "silver tab" mags that do not have the cutouts on both sides.

Ignore the cutout in the middle. You need a notch on each side of the mag for it to work with the reversed mag release on a Gen 4.
