Hello all,

First post, and as of last week, I'm now the proud owner of my first AR/M4. I am a nuts and bolts DIY guy, so of course I have been drawn to an AR for a long time. Naturally I cant leave my gun alone. I have a question regarding free float hand guards. I understand they are primarly for accuracy due to the barrel not getting "torqued". The question I have is this, I would like to install a bipod mounted on my FSB, wouldn't this basically defeat the purpose of a free float tube if the wieght of the rifle is resting on the middle of the barrel. Forgive me if this is a dumb question, as I said I am a newbie.

From 1 newb to another, yes it does defeat the purpose of the free-float handguard.
You might take a look at IWC Mount-N-Slot bipod mounting solutions for your bipod mount.

Thanks for the info. In a few years when I learn a little more I plan on building this gun for accuracy. For now I am just trying to get as much out of it as I can, so for I am impressed with its performance.
