View Full Version : Breaking-in a new M4
Hey...
I just finished my first build of a Spike’s Tactical .223/.556. What’s the Best Practices for breaking-in this new weapon?
I heard things like don’t use steel cases for the first 3,000 rounds etc…?
Put a few drops of Mobile 1 synthetic on it and fire away.

Lube it and shoot it. Then shoot it some more. Rinse. Repeat.
Steel cases have nothing to do with anything, I wonder where all these completely random steel cased ammo rumors come from...
Lube, shoot, clean...repeat.
Cleaning being less important than the lubing usually
Steel case should be fine. Some rifles won't function well with it at first. If that happens, put some good 5.56 through it for a bit and then try again. My build liked it from the get go and that's mostly what it eats.
Great thanks, I see common thread...keep it lubed.

I do too. This seems to be one of the most persistent rumors out there. I think it was started by people wanting to sell cheap rifles that are "as good as"...

Lube and shoot till it needs more lube. Wipe down every few hundred rounds or so for good measure.
