I'd question the advice and information posed by an AK Guidebook with a WASR on the cover, but thats just me

WASR - have to be the poorest of the factory built AKs I ever seen. Talk about rough around the edges. That said it is hard to get one wrong, unless you are build 5.45 caliber and your name is Century.

My $300 WASR (7.62) is more reliable than my $600 Red Star Arms... I may eventually buy an Arsenal, but I may also buy another WASR:eek:

To be honest, I'm more leery of magazines with the most expensive AK's on the cover.

Well said. Initial impressions are many times incorrect, as in beauty may be only skin deep.

Dont get me wrong, I've owned a couple WASRs in the past and had zero problems with either one over many many rounds. Theyre just far from "the best", thats all.

I just bought this instead.

Pretty much satisfies all my AK information needs.

I've heard the 15th being thrown around on a couple different boards.

Fixed. I thank my lucky stars I got a good SAR-2 back in the day. Some of the WASRs I've seen lately are pretty bad. My SAR wasn't pretty, but it runs. The WASRs sometimes do neither.

Wish the OP would have said "New AK-47 Periodical is Out!" so I didn't get so excited!

Me too. I had visions of a AK P-Mag when I read the title.

That magazine isn't too bad, it's worth it just for the entertainment value you get while flipping the page. They are of course a little too generous when it comes to reviewing anything made by century, and alot of the "expert" editorials are just the typical "why the AK will forever be better than the AR" babbel. But I have found out about a few products I wasn't aware of before, including Krebs work with the AK.

Oh.... a MAGAZINE. :p

What you should do is buy the mag, clip out your favourite articles, and then show them to people.

"Hey, you want to see some rad clips from a new AK mag?"

Photograph the confused expressions and post them. Now THAT would be a fun thread.

In your first post you are belittling the WASR. Then when others post that while their WASRs may be ugly, they are functional, you backtrack.

You're going to "question the advice" of a publication you have yet to read. Thats mighty ignorant of you.

Also, nobody has referred to the WASR here as "the best".

I enjoy both of my WASR quite quality weapons to me, plus i work side by side with the Romanians and we took turns firing eachothers weapons.

That wasnt the point. It's skepticism in the same way that I question the "Motor Trend Car of the Year" type publications with a Hyundai on the cover. Is it a bad car? No. Does it work? Yes. Can much better be had for not much additional money? Yes.

Thats all I was getting at, not belittling anything. My WASRs served me very well.

So in other words, you are judging a book by its cover. Its still ignorance.

The G&A "Book of the AK47" series are good reads with some good info and pics. They are a worthy addition to anybody's reference collection. I just ordered my 2011 copy.

The magazine is on the shelves. I picked up a copy today when I was walking through Borders.

It was always supposed to be a sidebar - I'm thrilled it was a two pager with the pic.
