I have had one of the little 2.5 power Hensoldt "magnifiers" laying around the house forever...I would like to use it, but I am unsure of what mount you guys are using. I know I can get the whole set from Larue (may be the best way to go), but I'd like to know if there is any other option.
Thanks, guys.

I might be mistaken but I believe the Larue 'Po Boy Specials are long gone only to be seen from time to time in the secondary market.
If I already had the Hensoldt I would just get the Larue QD pivot mount and mount that puppy. You can also find them used if you haunt the forum For Sale sections.
Yea, Larue pivot mount would work great.
.
I use a single Burris XTR 30mm Ring. It isn't the "perfect" height but it is close and works just fine with my 1/3 Co-Witness ADM Mount.
The problem, IIRC, is that the Hensoldt is 26mm, so you'll need an adapter to bring it up to 30mm. LT made a bushing (shim) adapter and that is what I use. LT included the shim adapter with the Poor Boy Special.
I think you could just make one out of a plastic shim.
FWIW - the plastic shim would have to be right at 2mm thick.
If your interested, I have a picture of my setup at the top of this Thread (https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=75605).
For a part that "might" work with a little effort (reaming/sand the ID to 26mm and cutting a slot); look at this bushing at this Website (http://www.mcmaster.com/#6657k4/=bcgl8n).

I have a spare aimpoint magnifier mouunt lying arouund and an old hensoldt magnifier.
Could i just use a 30mm to 1inch ring adapater shim to make it fit? Or would I need to probably take some material off the shim?

Is the Aimpoint Mount is 30mm??
On a 1" to 30mm adapter, a 1" ring would be about .024" (.6mm) too tight on a 26mm scope. If it was plastic it might be all right.
You could probably sand it down pretty quick with a 7/8" dowell rod wrapped in sandpaper. Just take it slow and easy.
Heck, gingerly try and see how it fits, I just wouldn't get too rambunctious with it.

If you order from LaRue tell what your doing with the mount. Tell them what your putting in it. Their 1" inserts wont work. I learned the hard way.:suicide2:
