picked up a new G17 last week.

i noticed that in addition to the gray-ish slide, the barrel is also now gray in color, not black. my other 17s are black barrels. well one is the glossy black slide/black barrel. the second is gray slide/black barrel. so i bought this third one just to have 2 matching and they go and change the barrel color...ha.

also noticed that the markings (G17, Austria, 9x19) on the slide seem to be stamped deeper and more pronounced than the other glocks i have in 9 and 40. anybody else notice this? maybe i'm just overly anal about details.

anybody know why glock is making the barrels gray now? just cosmetic or something else?

i'll have to call them next week and inquire...

This has been discussed extensively on this and other forums. It's a non-issue. If you can, quit being anal about details such as this and go shoot your Glock.

Have you shot the weapon? If so, does it have an adverse effect on reliability?

Be wary, as several scientific studies the color "gray" has proven to be far more low-speed than black, often causing misfires.

I think he was just curious about it.

Nothing wrong with being anal but the Glock "fit and finish" threads are abundant here.

Just shoot it and have a blast.
