I would guess that what's on the screen is a combination of a severe case of nerves and the desire to appear "intense" to the audience. Unfortunately everyone doesn't understand how to give a speech with intensity. There's a not-so-fine line between delivering a speech with passion and coming across as someone who is off their meds.

Phil Davison appeared on tosh.o during the "Web Redemption" segment and actually came across as a pretty decent guy who just took it a little over the top.

Of course, after doing that guest spot on tosh.o, I suppose Mr. Davison should abandon whatever political aspirations he might still be clinging to (at least within the GOP).
