I want to get a tactical light for my M4. Anybody have any thoughts?

SF M80 rail plus a light of your choice.

What's the difference between that rail and the one Benelli puts on it?

Does Benelli make a factory rail?

Are you referring to the plastic handguards which come with the shotgun? If so, those lack the rails to mount the light. Something the M80 from Surefire has.

If you would like to keep it simple, you could alsp pick up a section of rail designed to mount on the magazine tube. This is the option I am pursuing. Using a Streamlight rail/attachment for the magazine tube I am then going to mount a Surefire M600 Scout with the tape switch ran to the factory handguards.

Does Benelli make a factory rail?

Not that I have ever seen or heard about.

I run a Malkoff MD2 flashlight in a VTAC offset mount at 11:00 and a stubby TD vert grip on a SF M80 rail. This replicates the setups on my AR's and allows for ambi use.

Check out www.elzetta.com. I picked up one of their lights for my AR and was pretty impressed with the quality. This is the solution they have for Shotguns: http://www.elzetta.com/zsmFAQ.htm

Do you like it as much as the Surefire?

Here is a not that great picture of my setup. I have since put on an Urbino stock and moved the light and TD grip a couple inches out as well.

Malkoff MD2 flashlight with hi-low bezel switch. VTAC mount.

I will try and get a better pic this weekend.

I've never owned a Surefire, so I really can't give you an honest comparison. Surefire seems to be the benchmark for sometime, but I decided on the Elzetta because they are a local company and I wasn't biased on a mfg..

While that definitely rates about a 9.5 on the Awesome Shit-O-Meter, I'm OLD school myself when it comes to shotguns. As a new M1 Super 90 owner, I'm just going with the classic Surefire forend on mine.

Elzetta uses a Malkoff Devices LED drop-in which is a super solid brass unit. The new SF stuff is good, but probably not quite as good given the price points. Otherwise, the body is fine if not overbuilt and do like the rear twist hi/low switch.

They don't make an integrated light forearm for the M4. They stopped at the M3. ;)
