View Full Version : Acceptable front post height?
I'm running DD fixed sights (front and rear) on a 16" mid. I used the Chudwin Zero and my front sight post seems a little low (maybe not?) I didn't have a ruler so my measurements are not too accurate.
The front post looks like its about 0.25" above the the base of the sight, whereas the outer 'wings' are about 0.5".
Now, the gun shoots fine with the sights like so, but I was just wondering if that seemed a little low.
Seems low to me, but maybe not.

I'm not sure I'm visualizing correctly, what you are describing. However the front sight post is supposed to be lower than the wings of the front sight base.

Thanks. I realize that, but does it matter HOW MUCH lower as long as its working?

I'd say the notched base of the front sight post should be level with top of the pocket it sits in, plus or minus an 1/8". But in reality it really doesn't matter so long as it isn't bottomed out or is only a few threads away from falling out.

What rear sight are you using?

DD A1.5 in rear & DD rail-mounted fixed front.
I just find it a tad hard to pick up the front post for a fast target acquisition.
