Since I got this gun I have been trying to find a load that was potent but that did not kill me to shoot it. The first load I tried was from Laser Cast bullets. I used their data for their 430 grain True Shot bullet with a gas check.
Here are the chrono results. I was not able to make it to max because the case would crinkle with that much powder in it. Wish I took a picture so you would know what I meant.
I also bought some 400 grain lead bullets and loaded them with Trailboss. Those were fun to shoot and were fairly accurate.
Here is the data.

I could not get the 430 grain load to group. I had a lot of vertical stringing. Part of it may have been me as the recoil from the bench was quite painful. I decided to try a more tame load that would still hopefully be effective on bears. I tried the Hornady 350 grain RNFP with Reloader 7. This load averaged 2.5 inches and while it still hurt to shoot it was not nearly as bad as the 430's. I am thinking of getting this gun ported.
Here is the chrono data from the 350's

I had two bullets left over from ruined cases with the 430 grainers I loaded them with RE7 as well and chroned them.

I also had to re sight in my open pistol after my friend added gas pedal for me. Here are the two groups I fired to confirm zero.

I was practicing drawing and aquiring the dot at 7 and 10 yards with this gun. The red dot is slowing me down a bit on the first shot but after that its much faster. My first shots were averaging 1.4 to 1.55 at 10 yards. I am still getting used to having an optic on a pistol. But its fun.

How do you like the TR24 on the Marlin? I've been trying to decide what kind of an optic to stick on mine...Currently leaning toward an H1, but one of the low-power Trijicon scopes may be a more versatile choice.

I went with the older TR21 on this gun not the TR 24 because of the longer eye relief. I have a TR24 on one of my AR's. I am liking it but I need to move the scope back a touch as I have it too far from my head. (did not want scope eye)

Ah, right...Meant to type TR21.

Thanks! I'll have to look into the TR21 when there's enough money in the optics fund to take care of the 1895.
