View Full Version : White Oak Barrels worth buying?
I am looking at buying a new barrel and was wondering if anyone had bought or had any good info on these barrels. White Oak Match Carbine Barrels? Thanks

I don't have that model of barrel. But my sample of one is a very accurate barrel.
White Oak has a very good reputation in competition circles. I suppose it would depend on which particular barrel but the company itself is generally well regarded...

Before being sponsored by BCM for 3gun/training guns I used WOA barrels for competition I was never unhappy with their performance, pretty damn nice barrels. My 6.8 16" midlength barrel is a WOA and it shoots accurately and reliably.
I plan on having the barrel either dimpled or fluted. Is there a difference between the two other than the look?
They have two different purposes. Depends on how it's done but from a purely mathematical standpoint fluting can remove more material. Also it admittedly looks cool but both processes are a largely incremental change (trade 1~ pound of weight for potentially less stable barrel).
Long thread about dimpling: https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?p=818800

im getting out of my lane here, but im pretty sure the whole reason dimpling became a popular option is because it addresses the problems that fluted barrels can have with minute warping when they warm up. if the futes aren't cut perfectly evenly spaced with perfect width and depth, the barrel will tend to bend as it warms up. uneven expansion.
I have 2 White Oak barrels. One is extremely accurate and the other is pretty good. Based on my experience, I would recommend them to others.
White Oak makes excellent barrels. I have a space gun upper that shoots bug holes at 100 meters. If you buy their barrel you won't be disappointed.

Is yours a standard barrel or did you have it fluted or dimpled?

I had this (http://www.rainierarms.com/?page=shop/detail&product_id=449) barrel for a while before I switched back to a 16" mid length. It wasn't fluted or dimpled, and it was heavy as hell, but it produced .9" groups on several occasions when the wind wasn't trying to kill me.
Ok. Thanks for your input.

What do ya get when you drop a nuke down a bug hole...... alot of dead bugs!

Hey, it worked for Johnny Rico and the rest of the Roughnecks!
great barrels.......nothing but good word going round about them
I've owned two in different lengths and would gladly buy them again.
Good to know. I'm looking at pickingup one of their SPR barrels.
My SPR barrel does .75" groups at 100m prone w/sling. Haven't bagged it up or shot off of a rest yet. Needless to say, it'll shoot better than I can. :D

My 16" midlength stainless steel WOA barrel is awesome. A bit heavier than I would like but it shoots very well.
What loads do you guys like in your WO barrels. I have the 18" SPR barrel (1:7). I only have about 130 rounds through mine so far. I got some .93 and smaller groups with Blackhills 77gr. (white box)

I have a 20" WOA that was fluted by ADCO. Its an accurate barrel and really likes 75gr Hornady and 77gr SMK handloads.
