I just got finished up with my 6.5 Grendel build today. I'm using an A2 stock with a 6.5-20 power optic that has a stated eye relief of 3.1 - 3.3" and a objective lens if 44mm that has an OD of 2". I initially ordered an ADM Recon for it but I'm second guessing myself...

This is the mount I have coming...

But I'm wondering if that's going to be too much eye relief with the A2 stock. So I was thinking about ordering this one... http://www.americandefensemanufacturing.com/view/product/11/

Do you guys with experience in high power optics on the AR-15 platform have any suggestions for me? I don't want to end up mounting everything and not be able to return stuff or not end up liking with I end up with.

The first one will work fine.

The Larue and ADM mounts will work fine. This is a 5.5-22x Nightforce in a Larue mount. it has a 56mm objective.

I guess my question is... If I'll need to move the cantilevered mount 1/2 way back the receiver to get the proper eye relief, wouldn't I just be better off with a straight up mount all the way forward on the receiver so the rings are directly over the attachment points?

For your use, I assume that's the La Rue 10 MOA mount which I don't think is available in a non-cantilevered mount so I see why you used that one.

Unless your cheek position is back further back on the stock than most people, the Recon-S won't give you enough eye relief.

Keep in mind that is an AR10 so the rail is longer than an AR15.

The cantilever will work find on on an AR15. Most scopes it will put the rear lens right about the charging handle area even with the mount further up the rail.

Oh! I didn't pick that up... The AR10 receivers are about 1.5" longer, right? So that makes it look farther back than it would be on the AR15 platform?

The mount is just a standard LT 104. No moa built in.
