I just have a quick question about a set of sights. What kind of sights are these and how do you use them? http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=222392271 (check picture 9) I've seen these before but I really am not sure how they are supposed to be adjusted/what each adjustment means.

(For the record, I did a search here and google'd it, but I've had no luck so far).

Any info is appreciated.

They are sights just like on the Red Ryder BBgun(my first firearm) lol

I don't know the exact term for the style of sight, but it has different notches on the rear sight wedge and as you slide the little wedge forward or backward it lifts or lowers the rear sight increasing or decreasing your range. If I am not mistaken it should be 15 yards for every notch starting at the lowest notch is 25yrds

Hope this makes any sense.

Good Luck

And that is a nice looking rifle.

That helps a lot. Thanks! :) I know someone that has one, though I've never really had much of a chance to shoot it. I may see if I can borrow it and clean it up as I'm pretty sure it hasn't been used in quite some time.

I also had a bb gun (it was a pump of some kind) with similar sights and never knew what to do with those either. Oh well. :o

You will be surprised at how accurate they are. I still have my red ryder and let the neighbor hood kids shoot it in the backyard. I can hit milk jug caps at 35 yards with a bb. once you get the adjustments down. nothing but fun from there lol:D

You'll shoot your eye out kid.

Kidding aside. Nice rifle. I have similar sights on the .22 my father gave me eons ago. DarkEarth is right on with the explination, slide the center bar to match the range that is engraved on it (mine has range markers on the wedge).

Remington typically used "u" notch rear sights to match the gold bead front sights on their .22s

Remington didn't use "buckhorn" rear sights.

Here is picture of a full buckhorn rear sight, which is a semi-aperture
