View Full Version : Need Receiver block, Barrel wrench & Strap wrench
So I need these, who makes the best ? and where to order from ?
I see good reviews for the Model 1 Sales Receiver block.
Not sure about the wrench, I need one that is not closed all the way around, to get behind my NM float tube.
Also how about a good Strap wrench, will the ones at
Harbor Freight Tools work ?
Receiver block, I've been very pleased with the DPMS Panther Claw. Fits better and less marring than the usual receiver blocks.
Armorer's wrench, I've used the DPMS. It's been OK. I'm not sure it will stand up to many more builds, but I'm not building many more rifles. I think my needs and its longevity will just about match.
Strap wrench...I dunno...I've never needed one, always had different handguards in mind. I'd guess....Sears?
I second the DPMS panther claw. I've been using the PRI barrel nut wrench and I like it a lot. I cut a section out of mine so i can slip it over the barrel without removing the fsb. For a stap wrench, I got one from sears and broke it, i still need to go take advantage of the forever guarantee. I also have a few from auto zone that work great. Both can open up to wrap around a ff tube.

Harbor Freight doesn't make anything alright. It their shit even functions it's a miracle. You can get a Klein S-12H for about $25 on amazon or at home depot.
Brownell's has a good selection of AR tools. If you use the right discount code, you'll get free shipping for orders over, I believe $100
Have you read the stickies here which talk about tools?

Seeing how I am not new to Guns, I would of never found that sticky.
Well I got these local from Luis at http://www.ar15gearsofwar.com/ and they worked perfect.
The Wrench is made in the USA and comes with a lifetime guarantee.
I had to heat up the barrel sleeve, it was red Loc-Tighted good

I believe that wrench is made by Guntec USA and as far as I know they are not made in the USA. They will work ok, just be careful when trying to break loose a castle nut with that thing. I broke two of them a few years back.
Thanks

I just looked them up, they are based in Arizona and according to them they designed and have a US Patent, but just because it has a US patent may not mean it is nessasarily made in the US, which is sad :cray:
But at any rate it worked great and seems Very stout, I used the castel nut end to break the lock ring and Tube loose that was
Red loc-Tighted on. And if it breaks I just go back to the store and get new one for free :)
Now I need to find a FF Tube I like, so I can put my rifle back together
The quantity I was doing was quite high, so it may have been an issue of fatigue.
