The only problem with them is the lack of duty holsters. It is getting better, but finding the right holster can be hard depending on what your department requires. HK makes a good product, always have and always will. The other downside is mag cost and availability.

The only problem with them is the lack of duty holsters.

This is the only drawback. If Safariland would make an ALS holster for the HK45c, I would have one right now.

Since NSW adopted the 45c, hopefully we will see more holster manufactures making them for this model.

I'm not LEO, so I don't use either for duty, however, I would recommend the HK45 over 45C for duty. The 45C is great for carry, but the smaller grip frame hinders it's use in certain situations especially when wearing gloves. I have small hands and often times think that there isn't quite enough real estate.

YMMV

If you're not going to conceal carry, I'd recommend the HK45. It's more ergonomic than the 45C, and has a longer sight radius. In addition, since you won't be humping the HK45 in addition to pounds of equipment in the rarefied air of Afghanistan, I think the aforementioned benefits outweigh the size/weight penalty.

From my experience, I had an easier time making pie-plate sized hits at 25 yards with the Hk45 than with the 45C.

I have a 6005 for my HK45 and I love that gun. If you find the right holster the gun will treat your right, no question about that.

Carry the HK with confidence.

I only have trigger time on the full sized HK45, but I did have some experience carrying it concealed. In the right holster on an average sized dude you can pull it off.

As a duty sidearm I would go with the full-sized HK45, personally.

I carried a HK45 in a Safariland 6280 for awhile. I loved that gun and kind of regret selling it. I now carry a P226 E2, but wouldn't hesitate to carry the HK again. Go with the full size for duty. 45C for plain clothes/off duty.

Have you held them?

The C feels terrible to me. Then again, so does the M&P.

See what you prefer.
