For the ones that missed out of the Midway deal here is your chance. Not as good a deal but not bad.

I have never heard of JRD sporting goods so I have no idea if it is a good company or not.

Plus $70 for a DD mount (if you can find them) and you are sitting right at $410. Sounds like it's damned hard to beat.

Something is making my spidey sense tingle on this one. So I called em, got voice mail, left a message, and am awaiting on a call back. I looked them up and they are down the street from my wife's work. I asked her to do a drive by and see what she could find. I wonder if the address is just a PO Box. Google Maps was inconclusive. I will let you know what I find out.

HES, I would be quite interested in what you find out. I'm looking to pick up an R-1 for a shotgun project.

Thanks to 5pins for the heads-up!

Well I left a few voice mails with no response. I did contact them through their web site around noon and got a response at 6pm. I had stated that since I live a few miles away from them I would like to know if I could stop by and pay in cash and not pay for shipping. The answer was what I thought it would be. I was informed that they do not have a store front. This was confirmed by my wife who drove by and said she did not see this shop in the retail building where it was supposed to be housed.

This in and of its self is not a big problem for me. A lot of folks, myself included, run their businesses out of their home and have the mailing address at their buddies business or at a place like Mail Boxes Etc.

What did concern me was the inability to get a hold of anyone on the phone, the lack of a return phone call, and what I felt was a curt reply to my message. I replied to that asking how many units they had in stock. So far no reply. I will let you know what I find out.

In the end I would only buy with a credit card and not a debit card to avoid any problems.

Thank for doing the recon work for us. I do appreciate your looking out for folks.

I think I'll just save up another month, and buy a H-1 from Grant. That way I have no worries, wondering if it will arrive.

That is even a better deal if you use the 5% off coed that is listed at the top. The total with discount before shipping is $331.

Anyone know anything about ManVenture Outpost?

They are gtg on this deal (sample of one). Their shipping is a bit pricey though.

Just got a call from Jerry with them. A lot more helpful than the guy who sent me the email (Jim). They have 100 in stock. It ships out of a warehouse in MO. Apparently they have been a wholesaler and are moving into the retail brick and mortar phase soon.

Is this 'better' than a compm2? I can get a compm2 next month for $350otd.

It's lighter, but has a 4 moa dot instead of 2. They're both Aimpoints, so you know the battery life and durability is pretty amazing compared to other options out there.
