Do I need to worry about removing the piston from my AR before painting it? Will the paint harm it or interfere with its' operation?

It shouldn't be an issue, but I would remove it so that you can do the proper prep work.

If you worried about it I would DuraCoat it. Airburshing lays down very thin layer of paint compare to can of spray paint.

I do t see a problem with painting it. Might not want tO lay too much paint where the piston encounters friction just in case. Even though, I don't think it should be a problem.

I'd tape it up if it's easy to get to. If it's not a LWRC, that might be easier said than done. Shouldn't be a problem either way.
