I have been looking at a Sabre Defence 20 inch rifle (http://sabredefence.com/products.php#products/a4), but cannot find any solid information from Sabre as to whether it is properly staked (gas key, etc) and what grade of steel is used in the barrel (4140, or 4150.)

If anyone has any information, I'd appreciate it.

Note: I did use the search function, and couldn't find any information on the subject...

Sabre has the proper spec parts but you can get parts from BCM cheaper and the future of Sabre is questionable.

With the future of Sabre up in the air I would just go with Paul and BCM. Quality parts for some of the best prices out there.

This upper for instance:

By the time you add a quality BCM BCG, CH, carry handle, and handguards you're still in under the Sabre price.

Not questionable....gone. The company was sold and is no more.

As stated, I'd go with a Bravo. Co. set up if I wanted a 20" musket.

As far as the specs on Sabre, the barrels were 4150, I don't know it they were the same 4150 that's in the TDP, the gas keys I've seen were staked ok.

I realize that it is ridiculous, but I like emblem on the Sabre lower...That is why I want to pick one up...

If I can find a Sabre lower half, then I would go with that and put a BCM upper on it, but I haven't been able to find a lower half, or even a stripped lower...

I just sold one!

That logo on the lower was only available on their complete factory built guns.

I had a lower assembly from a factory part out.

Don't bother, IMO I always thought Sabre was way overpriced for the quality of products delivered. I'm not saying the Sabre is a bad rifle, but they always seem to charge prices at colt levels or exceeded the price of the colt and they don't match the quality. You would be much better off buying a BCM which is a better rifle for less money.

Here in TN, there seems recently alot of gun shops have drastically increased prices on Sabre rifles due to Sabre going out of business. I say one recently at one shop for $1800.

Sabre hasn't answered the phone or e-mails since December. I placed a an order for my dept. last November. These guns were never delivered and no contact made with me about them since the indictments came down.
