Folks,

Will the LaRue 661 (low) mount allow me to C/W my micro AP and AK irons when used in conjunction with an Ultimak rail?

I asked this question a few weeks ago. Short answer: LaRue Tactical doesn't know and nobody else seems to have tried it. There just isn't much room to work with, so my thinking is no.

I keep hoping someone else will try it and see :).

I just may (try it). I have other applications I could use it for if it doesn't work out with my AK.

If it doesn't work out, MI makes a top cover that might.

None of the quick release mounts will co-witness on the ultimak except the ARMS#31.

More importantly will it even fit. I know more than a couple people that have had issues using Larue mounts on Ultimaks, the fit is so tight even with the QD adjusted as loose as possible it won't clamp shut. Larue says Ultimak is out of spec, Ultimak says Larue is. I'd put my hard earned money on Larue being correct.

Factory Aimpoint mount is the way to go unless you really need the QD function.

There it is. The factory mount on an Aimpoint Micro will give you a lower 1/3 - 1/4 co witness.

No need for a QD set up when you have that.

Copy that. Thanks to all for the intel.

Best part is you can spend the $100 you saved on ammo!

A very practical looking setup, Templar.

I wish. I'm pulling the micro off a LaRue tall mount, so I still need to invest in a mount to secure it to the Ultimak.

Most definitely is. Here's the whole story.

Templar ~ Read it, thanks. Your 106 is what I wish to emulate.

For future reference.

No, it WILL NOT. I learned the hard way... The factory mount is the only mount to my knowledge that offers a lower 3/rd...

Great setup and changes the rifle completely... Well worth the money.

I'd agree...but I don't have the OEM mount. I have the micro/tall mount combo from LT for my DD AR.

I'm currently scanning the web for the low AP mount. Looks to be around $70.00, give or take, at (several) online locations.
