Here is the paint curing kiln I fabricated in order to cure the Cerakote "H"product. It is made from a 8" I.D. x 36"L stove pipe insulated (R30 insullation) between a 10" I.D. x 36"L stove pipe. I used two 8" to 10" connectors and a 6" portable electric hot plate (120V Proctor and Silex Brand)). I mounted a 8" end cap, after cutting a 6.25" hole to accomodate the burner, to the top of the heating unit and then attached the connector (10" side up). At the top is another connector inverted (8" side down). I taped all of the seams with metalic tape and secured all of the seams and connections with 1/2" sheet metal screws. In the bottom, 5" above the burner, is a 6" end cap fasioned into a heat dissipator designed to eliminate the heat soak associated with having parts too close to the burner. I also fabricated a bracket for hanging various parts for the curing process. The top cap is a simple design, a plain 12" square dry-wall mudding plate / trowl that I had on hand (worked perfectly) with an analog (dial) thermometer secured into it and held in place with a clip.
I have found this kiln to be very easy to regulate the internal temperature, expecially after implementing the heat dissipator. It did take about 2 days of testing in order to find the right setting. I have tested the temps internally with a hand held lazer thermometer and cross refenced them with the dial thermometer on top. The internal temps are relatively the same from bottom to top (+/- 10*). With about 220* internal tem, results in a 200* item surface temp.
The total cost for construction was only around $120.
So there you have it, a simple kiln that anyone can make and the results from my first project (Winchester 1300 Defender in Magpul FDE and Graphite Black))....so get out there and Cerakote since it is the best product currently on the market. If you have any questions just let me know.

Thats awesome. Ovens are nice to have if youre painting...especially if you live somewhere humid. I picked up an oven from a restaraunt supply a few years ago. Have you thought about maybe some header exhaust wrap? That stuff works awesome. Good job man!

Wow. I have been looking for something like this.

This was pretty simple to construct. Just some simple items from Ace Hardware and Home Depot. I twas built out of neccesity due to the fact that I didnt want a giant wall-locker sitting around my garage, and wanted something I could easily stow away.
The cheapest commercially produced stove I could find on Brownells was about $2K and as big as a small gun safe.
With this stove I was able to do (1) shot gun reciever, (1) 18" Barrel, (1) Larue T1 Micro mount and (2) H&K 5.56 magazines all in a single batch. It also has the capability to do a full Remington 700 barreled reciever with a 26" barrel.
If you plan on building one and have any Q's ...let me know, or if you find something that you can impprove upon.
Respectfully,

That is a great idea. How often is a ready made solution right under my nose, and I feel the need to reinvent the wheel. Hat is off to you.
